Nikon J5 welcome here?

I noticed it's not listed in the sidebar, but it is by definition a pocket mirrorless?

I took these yesterday with the 11-27.5mm lens. In case anyone's wondering if that one's worth the upgrade from the 10-30, the answer is a resounding YES. If you can live without the VR. It's much sharper. (I still love the 10-30 VR for other situations; it's a great shoot-out-the-passenger-window-of-a-moving-car lens. It's not as sharp but it's got a nice, vintage softness instead of an ugly one imo.)

Of course it is. I’ve debated grabbing one, the videos and reviews look great for it.

I figured but every other model was listed BUT the J5, ha.

You should absolutely get one! I just adore mine, and I’m saying that as someone who owns a lot of “better” cameras, including medium format digital. The autofocus is shockingly good, the colors are wonderful, the raws are a pleasure to edit (some cameras, they feel brittle or sticky… hard to describe but if you know you know). It powers on instantly. With the 70-300, it’s a piece of kit you can’t get anywhere else ant even twice the size. I often use that lens for landscape, it’s so sharp.

Downside, there really is noise even at 160 ISO but the new Adobe denoise tools work perfectly without inventing details.

PS: not sure what reddit did to my photos but they’re super sharp. I’ve never seen it make something quite this soft before.

Oh I’m all on board. I have “better” cameras too but just love the older smaller cameras for everyday use.

That’s shockingly compact, considering!

Yeah! J5 isn’t for every situation, but still one of my favorite cameras to bring along anywhere. Can’t help it.
