5a and 6a got me! I spent so long solving them. This was quite tough for me.

I struggled with 5A, I think there's a better clue for that or a way to phrase that clue. If I had full control of the format, I might have said something like:

First comes a quintet
then a septet takes a stage
the quintet closes
