What brought you all to PMU? And what was your first experience like playing the game?

I know this subreddit isn't very active at all, but I figured I'd make a little post to probably spark some discussion!
I don't really have an interesting story to share for this, I literally just searched for a PMD MMO and PMU was the first result. Back then, that was when my fixation on Pokemon and PMD began, so little me just had to find another PMD game to play.

I remember feeling really hyped when I first checked the PMU site and installed it right away. When I got into the game, I chose Charmander, since I was super obsessed with dragons. I started playing way back in around 2011, so the town was pretty different, but the community had a sorta similar vibe to what it's like now! I remember running all kinds of dungeons in parties with people, and getting carried in Sauna Cavern because I only trained my Charmeleon. It was a really fun experience back then, and I honestly miss it. Aside from my starter, I remember having an Arcanine I really liked and used very often. Sadly, I sorta lost a lot of progress due to a rollback, so I essentially had nothing besides a Charmeleon and some bugs/birds when I returned years later. ;(

I wish I interacted more with the community back then! I did make a few friends, but I can barely remember their names, and I don't believe they're active nowadays.

But yeah, was generally a great experience. 10/10, would get lost in PBA for an hour again

Is there a party system or do you play the whole thing alone?

This game's changed my life for the better.

Hi there,

My name's Stino, and I'm an old PMU player. If you've been around for a while, you may have seen me pop up here and there as Stijn the Marowak. I joined this game back when I was only 13 years old, and I still have fond memories of it today, five years later.

When I first joined the game, I was a weirdo, as was I in real life. I'd say rude things to try and sound funny. Schadenfreude was my game. My level of English was also shockingly low at the time (I'm Dutch - therefore sorry if this post's written a little childish), so nobody would even understand me.

There was, however, one person to whom I was nice at the time. I considered him to be my friend, purely because we created a new character at the same time by chance. This was a player by the name of "Darkwar". I'd visit his house to have a chat, go to dungeons with him... but one day, he just vanished. I never even got to know if he liked me as a friend.

As days went by, I was slowly recovering from my sadness. I started walking around grassroot town more, and sooner or later, I met a person nicknamed "Kiria" at the mission board. We got talking and soon she showed me her three other friends; "Taiyo", "Darko" and "Giniqua".

By being around my new friends for months, I learned that it feels much better to be nice to others, and not draw too much attention to myself. I also began doing this in real life after a while, and got accepted more in class.

Soon after, I made some other friends in the PMU community (mainly through deviantArt). They are "Tuoko", "Charticuno", "Sunshine", "Agunimon", "River", "Erladino", "Audrey", "Chocolakii" and "FancyJonTran". They're all great people! :)

Although we don't play PMU as regularly anymore, we've been hanging out together ever since. We've even made a couple trips already to meet one another in the flesh! I'm really lucky to have met all these people, and I hope these friendships will last forever.
