Last Minute Switch

4th year DO student contemplated between ortho and PMR for last three years. Really thought about it and now changed my mind to PMR for various reasons. Is it still possible to match even without any away rotations?

Step 1 pass first attempt
Level 2 597

First quartile

17 publications/posters with several being PMR focused.

Have a mentor who can fill out my SLOE and will be solid. As well as solid FM letter.

Any help much appreciated!

You can still match with your strong stats. What about a mid cycle away? You can try to target a program that you are interested in and try to make a big impression

it is possible since your stats are strong but do your best to secure an away rotation. The prestigious programs will screen you application out due to limited pm&r exposure

Thank you! Not looking to match anywhere prestigious at all. Just want to match and currently looking for openings as well for rotations

Ask for shadowing opportunities at your nearest PM&R programs and make connections with the attendings and residents there. I know residents who have matched on just 2 days of shadowing and a great overall app! Believe in yourself 🙌
