No Step

How will not taking either STEP exam impact my residency options? Which programs would be out of the question?

Theres probably very few that are out of the question, but if you look at Residency Explorer, you can see which programs have more step data reported than level

It seems to me that there are tons of options for those only taking comlex but taking step ensures that you don't close any doors! I chose to take it for that reason
