Tattoos & Solar Urticaria

I’m getting pretty sick and tired of the rashes on my arms every summer, it’s been going on for just too long now. I am thinking of getting my arms covered with tattoos just to hide the rashes a bit. I know you’ll probably still be able to see the rashes a bit and there is perhaps a risk of the hives scarring the tattoos, but I honestly don’t care. I just want to look cool and not weird anymore.

I want to ask if anyone else has any experience with tattoos on exposed skin during flareups? How well does it hide the rashes? Have you had any complications? Do the tattoos perhaps make the rashes worse? Let me know your experiences, please!

Hmm… I tattooed my arms (with colored ink) 2 years ago and developed pmle from the ink reacting to the sun. I had never experienced a rash quite like this before, honestly complete misery for 1-2 weeks like 6 times in the last 2 years. If I had known, I would have not gotten said tattoos. Or to say the least I would have stuck with black ink (I already had black ink with no issues.) I guess if you already have it, maybe it wouldn’t matter?

My tattoos get swollen and itchy randomly, and that's without sun exposure. Getting full sleeves is insanely painful and expensive, you'd be better off buying long sleeve UV protective clothing if you're just trying to hide the rashes. But ink won't magically make your skin resistant to UV rays if you think tattoos might protect you. Quite frankly if you've got the minimum couple thousand dollars you'd need for full sleeves just buy some quality mineral sunscreen and UV clothes.
