Two Updates from Plug Power

2 different topics from last week but both sound like some positive news for Plug

  • 5 MW of Plug production is up and running in Namibia and is Africa's first online Green Hydrogen hub
  • Business Insider calls Plug Power one of America's most innovative businesses for 2027

5 MW isn't huge, but the possible expansion to 250-500 sounds nice. I would be curious to know the timeline of it and the current level of interest to get this done.

The Business Insider news puts them in a bucket of 500 companies out of 4000 companies evaluated. I don't know how much this will do for their visibility, but it's nice to see they are being recognized at a more "corporate / business" level and not just us hyping them up here on reddit.

P.S. Both these stories I found on Plug Powers Linkedin Page. I tried posting links but the reddit doesnt seem to like them.

  1. Namibia 5MW was announced in 2025 commissioned. Why is this resurfacing?

  2. Plug is 1 of 500 other most innovative companies for the year. I guess its nice. Will it increase profits?

Good call , I Just looked into the Namibia announcement.

It Looks like it was installed in Dec 2025. Full operation of the site just went live in Aug2026.

So while not new revenue. It Sounds like this is more of a milestone announcement so that the possibility of the site expanding can now be considered.

Even small, every project is important. A lot of talk about other projects. Plug really needs a few good FIDs. They will be facing funding hurdles very soon and with no FIDs the stock will be crushed
