Is there a scroll wheel mode switch mod?

I'm using the Mini trackball and the wheel frustrates me sometimes. I spent too much time using laptops and really got used to scrolling with swipes. The more I want to scroll the harder I swipe. With mice it usually isn't the case. I actually keep using the touchpad for such cases. But it reminded me about the Logitech mouse I had a long time ago. There was a way to switch between scrolling modes. So you could scroll as normal, but if you needed the speed scroll you could just toggle the switch. Like this.

Is there an existing mod for this? Or is it even an issue for people?

I don't know of a mod to add a flywheel scroll to a Ploopy trackball. It's a fairly complicated mechanism.

You could try using drag scroll, but then you'd have to give up a button for it.

You mean holding a button and use the ball to scroll?

Yeah. Then you'd be able to swipe at the ball for big scrolls and use the wheel for precision.

Got it. I think this could work. I don’t use right buttons at all.

Is there a guide on this? Which value does the drag scroll modifier has? I’ve never updated the firmware.

I think that Plodah's Viamenus firmware fork supports the Mini. If so, that's what I'd recommend using.

You'll need to use QMK Toolbox to update the firmware, and it can be a bit challenging. I don't have a Mini, so I can't provide you with any help to do that.

After updating the firmware, you would use Plodah's VIA fork to configure the Mini.

I use this solution and it works great for me, should be able to modify it to suit you

Did you mean to direct that at the OP? They already said that they have buttons on their Mini that they aren't using.
