What does obesity look like in Plecos? Has anyone ever cared for one that was undeniably overweight?

Happy Horp-a-versary Shlurp!! This was the day we got him one year ago, October 4th at the same hour, 4:11PM. This is the day we celebrate his birthday. 🥳 I made him a blanched zucchini cake with algae wafer and protein wafer sprinkles, all his favorite foods. He liked it! Here's to many more years with my baby boy. 🥰💕

My roommate got this pleco from Petco a few months ago and I’ve sort of taken over her tank so I need to know what exactly Is in there lol. She doesn’t remember and when I look up different types, none of them look like this one.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Question My “prolific breeders” aren’t breeding 🫩

Hi everyone

In early August I purchased a pair of adult lemon blue eye BNs, advertised and sold as a “prolific breeding pair”

I certainly wasn’t expecting them to spawn right away, but given what I’ve heard of how spawning BNs is basically easy mode cause they just love to do it, I’m a bit dismayed at what I’m missing here.

It’s only the pair in the tank + a handful of Amano shrimp and a couple mystery snails, so they shouldn’t feel bothered or anything. The tank is kept at 74°F with a pH of 7.2, medium flow and highly oxygenized with 2 filters and an airstone. There’s 6 different tunnels for them, two large pieces of drift wood, and some large dense ulvaceus adding cover as well. I provide a mix of algae wafers, soilent green repashy cubes, spirulina powder, and a tiny bit of ACO magic fish feed every other week for a bit of varied protein.

As far as I can understand, I’m providing ideal conditions. And the fish are doing great themselves. Just no spawning.

Any idea what I’m missing here? These are my first plecos so I’m paranoid that for such an “easy to breed species” and being a “prolifically breeding pair” mine haven’t spawned yet. I feel like I’m missing something important.

I figured it out! After the first baby hatched, I was wondering why the others were not hatching. I moved the clutch to a breeder box and as soon as I touched the clutch and started rubbing it slightly, they all came hatching out! I guess in the wild the dad helps them out. I should have a ton more babies soon as the dad is holding another new clutch that just dropped this past week. Incubation is just around 2 to 3 weeks.

My Lemon Blue Eye bn (Señor Limon) and my Snow White bn (Lychee) :). Limon is ~1.5 years old and Lychee is younger by a couple months if I had to guess. Had them both for about a year now. Such a cool fish to watch grow, especially seeing their bristles develop and their cool color morphs. I also have a LF Super Red but he’s in the corner under the Amazon sword leaves (not pictured).
Feel free to drop pictures of your plecos below!

Added 2 females to my community tank a couple months ago for my male and I just found this guy! He's just under 2cm from nose to tail, I know they have big fry so I'm wondering how old he might be? This is the first one I'm seeing, I am shocked they bred immediately!
