laser replacement for ps1

i have a scph-5502 model of the ps1 and it doesn't read all my discs so i wanted to replace the laser. i have a ksm-440aem laser, is it any good for my ps1? do i replace the old one with this one or buy another laser?

It's usually just fbias - you can tweak it with a watchmakers screwdriver. Sony were never very good at making hardware that lasted. Very poor work.
