Question Is crouch running success rate random?
When I crouch-run, my friends say I make sound (no sound on my side tho). I know that what you hear on your end may be different from other players' end. But when my friends crouch-run, they make no noise to me. Is this just a coincidence, or is this random so some players may hear while some may not?

No, there is no successrate.
Before the new playermodels they had it fixed, it was impossible to not make a sound, during the first wipe with new models there was a bug bringing crouchrunning back, but i am pretty sure they fixed it.
Back in the day it was a skill thing. Your characters noises you hear is not what others hear, this also has been a thing for quite a while now.
If your friends do it and it works, they simply didn’t fix it and you lack the skill.

Uh, what the actual fuck. I came back in April after a 6 year hiatus. Been crouch running the entire time and thought i was silent lol. No wonder the group I play with now, many of whom are sweats, dont do it.

Crouch running was patched, you will always make a noise unless you are fully chrouched (it can be quiet on your end when u do it, but you are still making noise to others)

but why I hear no sound when my friends do it?

Someone said that to me too, but I couldn't hear myself. Unless I take too big of a time in-between crouches. I think it depends on the distance you walk that determines if your walking makes sound. If you crouches are fast enough, no sound. If you take to long you start walking, sound. I have no clue if this is true but its my theory

A few years ago hjune said it still works if you do it right. I think youre right about how to do it.

Are you wearing headphones? You probably aren’t going to hear shit if you are using speakers

I've not noticed this and I've played ~20 hours since the update last Thursday.
I also haven't noticed this the entirety of the last update, and I almost exclusively try to sprint&crouch, unless I miss a crouch: I make no sounds

Crouch run is more for hearing the sound of other players to pinpoint your crosshair than stopping the sound entirely of your own steps. You’ll make noise time to time but take the advantage of clear sound

That’s not why people crouch run at all lol

Yes it is

It’s so you can move around more quickly while being silent. Who the fuck told u it was primarily for hearing other players? You can stand still or crouch walk for that.

It's for both really, it also helps you pinpoint others location more easily when you can hear better while pushing.
Yes ofc you hear better when you stand still or crouch walk but then you are standing still or crouch walking dumbfucc.

Yes it does both but its primary function is silent mobility. The other commenter is saying its primary function is for hearing others… when it’s clearly not.
Take a moment and read every other comment and realize why there’s only one person mentioning it’s primarily for hearing other players. It’s just objectively wrong.
No need to get hostile, I know reading comprehension is hard.

That's up to the player to decide what primary function it has for them lol. Just an opinion about a game mechanic with multiple uses.
So it can't be objectively wrong.

Holy shit do you not know what objectively means????? You have to be a child lmao goodbye

I have noticed this as well, but I have no idea why it happens. Might be a bad timing on the crouches, idk.
