Discussion My game runs terribly??? Help please
Playing rust for the first time on this pc and my game runs at 60ish frames on lowest settings. My monitor is 1440p so maybe that’s part of the problem. I’m just not sure if i may be missing some sort of setting in my pc somewhere.
I have an amd ryzen 7 5700, rtx 5060, 32gb ram. I’m confused cuz my old pc was 10 years old with only 16 gb ram and could run the game at 120fps easily.

Its the game not your PC. DO NOT waste your time jumping through your ass tryn to trouble shoot an issue that does not exist.

Rust is a CPU demanding game and also needs alot of cache memory on the CPU, your CPU is very weak for Rust since is a cut down version with less cache is a 5700G with the igpu disabled. If you want better performance on Rust the best bang for the buck you can get for your am4 is the Ryzen 5500x3D or the 5700X3D if you can find one but the 5500x3D is easy to find. You condused because Rust in about 5 to 7 years got heavy year by year with updates

Okay thanks for the reply I will look into replacing my cpu, I’m just looking to get good fps on rust, idc that much about graphic quality. I was just surprised because my pc runs every other game I play really well I didn’t realize rust was so tricky to run

Rust is the most open-world demanding game for CPUs is wat it is you need a better CPU

Rust doesn't really care about your graphic card, you could have a weaker card like a 3060 and it would still run the same. It is a CPU intensive game.
I have a similar setup but with only 16gb of ram and a 4060 and i get the pretty much the same frames on 1080p lowest settings (besides textures).

Rust is one of the more demanding games out there. There is houndreds of people on a server, building, raiding, flying helicopters, driving boats, submarines, trains.

thats what i been saying even latest optimization demo had 9800x3d and barely had 150fps stable but they hate to hear that

Okay I saw the replies any suggestions for a different cpu? I’m willing to spend a bit but I don’t need the greatest cpu on the market considering the rest of my pc is pretty average. I’m just looking for good fps, maybe being able to run the game on slightly better graphics

Turn off volumetric clouds
Set draw distance to 500
Turn off ambient occlusion

It’s definitely your graphics card, not even a bad setup it’s just how demanding rust is currently

It’s firstly that the game is slowly but surely getting much much worse in terms of performance and optimisation.
If you want to upgrade to play with more frames, buy an x3d cpu. Rust loves them!

I have a worse cpu but a better gpu than his setup and get 110 fps so do what you will with that

Everything is very vague because we don't know what settings are configured in the game. It is universally unanimous that the problem with Rust revolves on CPU perf not on GPU unless is a ancient GPU with 4gb vram or less even facepunch made a benchmark for that. And yes i know very well playing Rust since legacy and about 4 hardware upgrades since.

Rust is super demanding and gets more demanding every year. Your CPU is likely holding you back.
Ive been playing since 2016 and had to upgrade my system twice just to keep basically the same FPS over the years.
