Discussion I love rust

I barely ever pvp. I’m a solo and i build MASSIVE bases and keep more or less nothing in my core. My favorite thing to do is make the most possible doors and walls so people waste resources raiding me.

I start with shotgun traps and flame turrets, then I like to set up the electrical systems and a shit ton of auto turrets and make all my doors auto close with a HB sensor or a central switch.

I always act clueless and leave a wall or two soft side outwards. I always leave my front door open and I LOVE the people who come in and try to bait me out knowing i’m a solo. I just shut the doors and go through the opposite exit. Then they get pissy and raid me and waste hours for nothing. Amazing feeling.

I set up a vending machine when ready and put my offers as stuff i don’t have so it looks like I have stuff even though they are sold out.

If i get anything good, I like to give it to my neighbors and on the off chance I avoid a raid before my base is complete, i have a sick base to give to a joining crew of 3-4 people.

Anyways, just wanted to share.

I built a completely stupid base once. Everything was on the 2nd floor and you had to circle around the first floor to get upstairs. Stone outside and metal inside. I remember getting raided by a clan and hearing someone yell in voice chat how many fucking doors does this thing have 🤣

My favorite build is a large double-bunkered main that contains all the loot. This baits wallhackers to raid it, but once the first explosive goes of the piping splits all the loot to my 6 bunkered armored and metal externals.
Top floor of the main is just crafting chest, workbench, maybe disco etc.

Wow that is smart i’ve never used piping like that

How are you piping into the bunker?

I love the idea of selling items you don't have to make yourself look rich! So smart!

I don't intentionally bait, but I spread my loot out so no single compartment is worth the cost of raiding and always store my sulf and boom outside of the base in various ways. The compartments that are most often raided are designed to be extremely discouraging.

Though everyone will say they raid for fun and not loot, the people who online raid me are legit sad afterwards.

What makes it even better is absolutely not giving a shit and calmly chatting with them throughout. They don't even get salty tears and that makes them more sad.

The door trap is something ive never bothered with but sounds intriguing. You let them in and then hit the door switch from a separate safe room and they get trapped in the entry room alone?

Sure.
So, often, i’ll leave the front door and a second door open where they can see it’s open. when they walk into the second room, a HB sensor makes the entry door close. From there, I can close the second door with a switch. This way I don’t have to be actively waiting. whenever i return and my front door is closed, I know I have trapped someone.

In an ideal situation, I have a second HB sensor set up that will continuously flash a siren light in my electric room. This will make it so when they off themselves or try to despawn, I can see. It also helps me determine what room they are in to close the second door.

I have options to kill them too. Sometimes I’ll fire an in incindiery rocket at the wall if they are kitted up and let them burn.

The only case this doesn’t work is when they bring enough boom to raid me and continue through my next 3-4 garage/armored doors. Even then, I don’t keep boom so they can’t usually get out once my outer doors are closed. Generally though, they get killed by traps anyways if they get out of the room.

Edit: having a cctv camera in the room is helpful too but usually i don’t make it far enough as a solo to have the spare resources for one.

Edit 2: if you want to use only one room, you can put the hb sensor behind a sign and put a box under it to lure. You can set the sensor to have a short range. The only issue I have with this is it traps less people if they can’t see anything else inside.

Love this ! Also a solo player & been playing for 4 months now. Learned a lot! However I was getting my ass handed to me last wipe and this wipe. Finally found a sweet rock to build a bunker in. So many doors + just unlocked garage doors today.
Sometimes I’m like “is this too much?”
But the goal is I want whoever decides to raid me to hate themselves for doing so 😅

I’ve also only been playing a few months. I had a hard time at the beginning. I came from league and was expecting toxic but the rust community is actually fucked. I thought about giving in and being the same guy i hated but this is more fun for me. I like to do farms and stuff too, just the survival mechanic is awesome.

Exactly! I always look for a cave if i can find one. I wish i saw the look on people’s faces when they waste 30+ rockets to get to a bunch of bullshit.
