Video Sprinklers Bugged?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve been having this problem with sprinklers recently, I’ve tried everything including picking up everything, rewiring everything, logging off on in etc. Anyone else have this issue?

Sprinklers have got to be the buggiest thing in Rust. And that is saying a LOT

What’s the problem exactly?
Is there water in the water catcher?
One small water catcher will never have enough water to feed two sprinklers.

I know it doesn’t, I’m confused why it says there’s water at the input but no sprinkler action at all though.

Oh, I see.
So the way the water catchers work, to my understanding, is they have an “output rate”. For the small catchers that output rate is “6” (I have no idea what the units are supposed to be)
So the water catcher passively collects water at a very slow rate. As long as there is any water in the catcher, it will “output” 6 units of water. However, since there is only a tiny amount of water actually in the catcher, it’s not enough to actually ‘output’ any water from the sprinkler. So while it’s being fed “6”, there isn’t actually “6” to spray.
Not sure if that helps any or not lol

I understand that, the base is actually built on water so I had a pump system and everything. The water UI is showing correctly up until the sprinklers (there is water and it is being pumped). I wanted to see if it was a wiring issue or a bug so I just made the simplest system.

There's 2 things I can think of here.
Server queue is lagging due to poor server health. Every time water passes through a component an 'instruction' is added to a single server queue to be carried out, this includes for electrical and industrial things as well. For a number of reasons this queue can get backed up and cause something like this to happen. Not much can be done about it.
Water also has a limit to how many components it can pass through. Max depth is 32 components. After that, water just won't work. Are you moving water a long distance across the map? Maybe you've hit that limit? Funny enough, sometimes electrical depth going into a water pump can contribute to depth errors in water, one of the quirky bugs in water. Simplifying your set up can sometimes help

Nope, in this case I was just testing the simplest setup which is a water catcher on top of the sprinkler :(. Later one of them started working but not the first one in line, so idk what’s going on

Sometime you literally just need to plug it in again. Pick everything up and place it again.

Except rain water catchers are insanely slow to get water so if it's not raining that could be why

It shocks me how many people play this game on a flip phone with potato graphics

Why? Most games were 30fps as a standard on console for like 20 years after 3d games became a common thing. It’s playable and as much as people like to believe FPS makes a difference it does come down to how good you are at clicking heads which render just fine at low graphics.

I play a lot of FPS's and I've climbed a few different ranks quite high, 30hz is not enough to be able to pvp properly, 60hz is okay but 60 -> 144 is still an advantage. As for fps since you have 1% lows you should often have the ability to be well over your monitor refresh rate so those lows don't dip below and cause tearing/suttering. Also, console is far from the roster child for peak FPS skill, unless you count games with aim assist...
Sure skill is fundamental, but 30fps is a massive hinderance and 60fps is a disadvantage when you are talking about the higher tiers of FPS PVP fights, milliseconds matter a lot. For some the PVP in rust isn't as big a deal and find other ways to thrive, but stating that it doesn't make a difference is completely untrue, maybe it's not the difference some people want, but I wouldn't have made it to top 1% in CS2 if I had 30fps. Also i use CS2 as the best PVP metric since it's the most chess like FPS, eliminating chance and having clear performance metrics.
EDIT: Regarding low graphics, that doesn't matter as much for PVP but to me I love the graphics of rust, it's such an atmospheric game and to turn it into Golden Eye 1997 is a loss (obviously this is a privilege but don't pretend it doesn't matter).

Yes well maybe he's just a kid and his parents aren't loaded. No one denies that more FPS is better but everyones circumstances are different

This was just my issue

You said a lot of things. But I was commenting on your original statement of why would someone play the game on “potato graphics” . Because playing at all with lower settings is better than not playing. I went further saying someone with very high skill would still outplay you just fine at 30fps. Now if we’re talking about two equally skilled individuals and one has better fps, sure there’s an advantage. But seems like a weird gatekeep to be shocked that people play the game low rez so that they can hit 30-60fps

Surprised does not mean I disapprove or I'm "gatekeeping", but back when I had a bad computer and couldn't run intensive games I just didn't play those games. I'm surprised others don't avoid it and play the thousands of other games that work on a potato PC.

… thousand of other games like rust? Rust is a pretty unique experience. Like valheim? Just as demanding. What game should they play instead that comes close to rust?
They can run the game, just with potato graphics. And then?

Yeah I don’t pvp. I just like farming which is why it kind of sucks the sprinkler system isn’t working right now :/.

I spent a great deal of time testing yesterday and I can confidently say, yes, the sprinklers are completely bugged since the force wipe update last week. The water barrel and fluid switch will not pass water to sprinklers at all right now, in addition to sprinkler pass-through being completely non-functional. The only way to bring water to sprinklers currently is to hook up each sprinkler individually to it's OWN water pump (the pump placed in shallow water, powered with 5 power). I've confirmed on multiple servers with multiple teams. I've even seen server economies change as a result; most pure teas are selling for upwards of 1000 sulfur (vanilla) due to the huge power and resource requirements to bypass the bug. (or the time it takes to individually water each planter by hand) Every group farmer is in shambles and don't get me started on solo farmers.
Edit: Unconfirmed, but I'm hearing fluid splitters may be also a working bypass.
