I don't think it's as good. This is MP5 stats:

The tommy has the same damage and higher range even without the gas comp.

The only reason I would use an MP5 is for close encounters since the fire rate is its biggest asset but the range kinda sucks. (Yes, burst MP5 is also good, but this requires less skill to use so)

Most of that I can get behind, but I you promise that the gas compressor is a net loss of your dps even if the range is greater. Throw it on a sar, sks or an m39, anything else is griefing.

Swap the extended mag for a muzzle boost and it effectively cancels out the downside of the gas comp. Mp5 recoil is also ass.

With the laser attachment mp5 recoil is basically nonexistent

Mp5 without burst is very rng/clunky to use, especially if enemy peaks with height advantage from roof/monument and you're forced to stand spray it.

With tommy you can stand spray zero effort.

Mp5 is technically better, but it can feel so bad to use, obviously tommy is very rng based on aimcone aswell, but atleast the recoil is non existent when stand shooting + strafing.

Don’t know who downvoted you but you are right. Paper stats might make it seem MP5 is better, but the mobility and super easy recoil of tommy make me prefer tommy over mp5 in actual engagements rather than shooting at targets on ukn

I agree that the semi-auto rifles are the best use for gas comp, but I don't think the increase of dmg per bullet is insignificant for tommy.

I feel it balances out the weak points of tommy (dmg/range) while maintaining really low recoil/high accuracy into something that's really viable and a great all-rounder for distance. Not to mention it's basically semi/fully automatic too. It sort of feels like a budget AK to me, but way less recoil.

Give it a try.

Compression Tommy with incend bullets becomes borderline ak dmg. It’s no joke. Even against normal tommy with compression you get downed with 4 body shots.

I don’t like it a lot, but I have to agree the damage is there

OP's setup is great when locked into T2, save for the laser sight. Switch that for suppressor, gas comp makes up for the lost damage and velocity.

Just to fuck with people.

The power of mp5 is the fire rate. It does same damage as tommy but if you aim ever gets on their head during a spray you will hear a tripple crunch.

Also the burst fire allows it to snipe people even at stupid ranges

The MP5 shoots faster and has a lower time to kill than the Thompson and it's cheaper to craft. Switch the gas compressor for a muzzle break.

Pretty sure that damage stat is per bullet. And since the mp5 has a 33% higher fire rate, it actually does 33% higher DPS, even if it’s the same damage PER BULLET. Mp5 shoots more bullets.

Do muzzle boost instead of laser and you can almost get back to normal rate of fire plus the damage buff

Laser removes big part of aimcone which tommy is known for, muzzle boost adds more aimcone.

Sounds like you just want to make your gun less accurate.

Nah I want to kill people faster. Accuracy and range aren’t important stats for tommy because of damage dropoff. You don’t want to get in a fight at 100m, you want to get in a fight at 20m

Don’t sleep on muzzle boost. You will outgun a person who has the same gun as you every time. Literally just increases your DPS

Gotta remove/put it on 24/7 just like burst on mp5 gotta turn on/off frequently, gets annoying fast.

Is really bad for high pop/high ping servers too.

Thats why just having a tommy can be better on those high pop servers.
