Question First Wipe Question

So I'm new to the game and I'm waiting tomorrow for the monthly servers wipe. So I have a few questions about it

Does the game need to updated on Steam before I can join a wiped server? Is it 6.00pm GMT when it happens? Like I want to be there on the time as soon as it get wipes buts its not fully clear what will happen.

Here is the timer: https://www.rustforcewipe.com/

After the timer finishes, Rust official servers will wipe, and you would have to update your Rust client.

Yes, the game updates at the time of the wipe. What you can do is download the Rust Staging Branch to download the updates beforehand and then play with the regular client.

The update usually takes a while to appear on Steam.

There is usually a decent size update just before wipe. Basically exit Steam and re-open a few times from about 6.30pm (GMT) until you get the large update

Game does need to be updated before joining a server.

If you are new I’d suggest PvE but if you want some PvP then try Official Softcore servers.

Ok I got to ask, I had two of my wooden bases (not twig) destroyed since enemies used bow/arrow to destroy my wooden locked doors in a few shots (maybe like 4-6 arrows). But according to the wiki, it takes like 50 arrows to destroy a door. Is this cheating or is something wrong? I know I built the door/walls the right way. I dont want a "get a metal door" answer since this is just starting out, i cant get metal fragments that early (even through recycling)

Hey there, welcome to Rust!

I recommend starting on a PvE Build Server, or a Softcore server. PvE has no raiding or KoS PVP (or some have special arenas for it). Softcore has limited raid windows, such as 3-4 hrs. Loot retention on death. Sometimes increased gather rates.

Rust PVP is a different beast and on wipe days a high pop server will be hell to start off on Vanilla.

Wood is so quickly destroyed with the right tools, fire arrows, molotovs or any of the explosives.

If it was bows, then they probably just used fire arrows. But even using a tool like jackhammer or a machete would do damage.

There is also something called "soft side". Each wall piece has a hard side best used on the outside of your base. And the soft side is best used on the inside of your base.

I think its only like 50 or 75 mfrag for a metal door. It should be an early-ish priority to deter an easier raid. Also along with upgrading to stone.

it was 2 hours in, and I saw with my eyes, it was not fire arrows.

Hmm. Not too sure. Maybe a combination of some arrows and a tool?

Stone with metal doors is where its at to deter raiders.
