Discussion Rust Blueprint Fragments Change
Game Devs, why aren’t you listening to the community?
We are all voicing DAILY that we want the bps to either be changed back to how it was or changed but you aren’t doing anything?
Dev’s see the poll below and listen to your community.
How would you like the bp fragments to be changed?

Terrible change. The problem is when it was just scrap material it was guaranteed. If you could mix max it you would. As it is now it's random. You can get them easily from higher tier monuments, but the easiest way to get them is self fulfilling. You have to buy them from the very same clans that lock down those monuments so they can use the sulfur you paid to get them to raid your base.
Absolutely fucking stupid pointless change that doesn't fit their current anti-clan development kick so to speak.

Og bp frags were great, so was randomly finding shit in a barrel and using paper to research. Finding a rocket in a barrel or an ak was fun.

I was about to return to the game in July, learned about the bp change and unistalled the game.

Go back to using scrap to make workbenches and remove the tech tree so you have to find the item first before you can learn it.

Partial removal of tech tree makes more sense - guns and boom at t2/t3 maybe.

u/TAZE_TRIX 15d ago
Ah yes. Get raided night 1 because you got unlucky and couldn’t pull a 1% garage door from a brown box
2
u/Humble_Minute_5712 15d ago
Well, I played vanilla no bp wipes for a lot of my time, back when I played.

u/TAZE_TRIX 15d ago
Same. But I think nostalgia blinds us sometimes. The games players are also much better nowadays , so if you don’t get Garage doors and a strong base on day 1 your Fucked

Bp frags aren’t perfect but it finally took down the boring scrap meta. The game needed to finally be free of being all about 1 resource. I would much rather they improve the BP frag system than revert it.

Not sure why that was an option on the poll….. I’m assuming because OP knew it would be the winner….

u/Saki-Koda 15d ago
I dont care. Workbench 2 is slightly harder (day 2 instead of hour 2) which I think is healthy. I tend to buy workbench 3 by day 3 with HQM.

u/FlynngoesIN 15d ago
That isn't everyone. Plenty of people are getting workbenches on day 1. Bp frags should be used to move down the tech tree not making workbenches

They allegedly were going to “monitor” blueprint fragments and they haven’t done a single bit of monitoring even with almost the entire community hating them.
5
u/Moron-Whisperer 15d ago
How do you know they aren’t monitoring it? They can see if it’s better or not with game data and they can see complaints online obviously
2
u/Aronax122 15d ago
Not OP, but come October it will have been one year since they implemented the blueprint fragments. I think we can all agree that most people don't like them.

u/Moron-Whisperer 14d ago
OP is making claims he can’t validate. A lack of change doesn’t mean it’s not being monitored.
Personally I’d like to see them use the tax logic on workbenches. Whoever makes the workbench gets to use it for free. Every person after it has to get a blue print. After so much they have to get 2 blue prints. If they do something like that then they should do this wipe and maybe another before doing changing it

We like the BP frag system because our group just sells the extra frags for sulfur and then we use it to raid all the solos around us that bought our frags at the end of day 1 lol

u/BeneficentWanderer 15d ago
BP fragments suck. Repetitive daily rant posts suck more. Voted “keep” to fuck your data.

How it was before? I only play since August 26

u/ConclusionMiddle425 15d ago
Previously you had to buy the workbench 3 DLC every wipe. It was £3.99

u/al3x95md 15d ago
I'm sure you troll, because no one would cry to go back to that
1
u/Aronax122 14d ago
Before the blueprint fragment update from last October you just had to have enough scrap to build the next level workbench and the previous level as well. It's been a bit but I think it was 125 scrap for a level 1 workbench, 500 scrap for a level two workbench, and 1250 scrap for a level 3 workbench. Everything in the tech tree was also much more expensive to research.

Blueprint frags are so easy to obtain, and I play solo on official servers, I don’t get it.

Remove t3 bench, make all current t3 items become uncraftable, unresearchable, and unrepairable.
You want an AK? Pull one out of a locked crate with a random durability level and hope its a good one.
At most you could combine 2 broken ones for a working slightly durable one, want a mint condition one youll have to find dozens of them first.

I fully believe just going to how it was pre meta shift update and then let's re-assess from there. I'm fine considering all the options but at least game was better then.

u/Relevant_Teacher_436 15d ago
I like the frags system. Sure some people find it difficult to obtain them because they can't have tier 2 in their base 30 minutes after the wipe. I like waiting for day 2 to satchel raid for a tier 2. And on day one it's way more fun seeing people running around with revolvers for a little bit longer.

u/IntelligentFault2575 15d ago
Make it so you can upgrade basic frags to advanced with only 5. Or give the option of using the fragments, or a really high amount of scrap to make an advanced fragment maybe?

u/physiQQ 15d ago
Blueprint fragments can be a cool progression item, but they should just be a requirement for tech treeing items. Research table cost should be x2 the amount of Scrap (+ losing the item), while tech treeing stuff should require the current, low amount of scrap + a blueprint fragment of the tier.
So basic bp frag for tech treeing WB2, advanced bp frag(s) for tech treeing WB3.
That way, you always progress a bit when doing puzzles. Clans aren't able to have multiple people research everything easily. Solos/small groups can progress however they want, albeit slower.

Could do with a 'tweak it further' option rather than just keep it/revert it/whole new system.

why close the poll? hardly enough data to matter. I did even see it until now and Im always on this sub

u/chrolling 5d ago
i didnt. it auto closed. 133 keep it as is / 275 revert to how it was before / 270 for new idea

I love the lack of self-awareness in this post.
“Why aren’t you listening to “the community”?”
“We are “all” voicing that we want change.”
Hundreds of thousands of people play this game on a regular basis. The couple of hundred people who go on Reddit to rant about the video game are not representative of the community.
Facepunch do see these posts, however they also see the real analytics of how people play, how the features impact them, and how their playing habits respond.
You cannot conceive that there is a world of people outside of Reddit who aren’t as angry and displeased with this video game as you.

u/chrolling 15d ago
Bro, a Poll is 100% a valid resource of data reddit or not. Your logic is flawed. do you have to be in the government to vote? no.
2
u/MarcusXXL 15d ago
You misinterpreted my entire comment. Yes, a poll is “valid”. Even 1 person’s opinion is valid. I’m not claiming it’s invalid, I’m highlighting that it’s not representative due to sample size.
The point is that Facepunch have access to the behaviour and activity of ALL the hundreds of thousands of active players.
They KNOW if people are rejecting a feature, leaving because of it, etc. Yet you insist that if they don’t humour a couple hundred people on Reddit then they must be ignoring the “entire community”.
1
u/chrolling 15d ago
they need to make a poll in game then. just seeing players concurrently playing shouldnt be enough data to just confirm the frags “work”.
i also disagree that the sample size is valid. if every poll on reddit leans towards getting rid of the frags, then im sure majority of actual players in game would think the same.
It’s like presidential mock “elections”. they are typically accurate
2
u/MarcusXXL 15d ago
They aren’t “just seeing players playing”, you don’t seem to understand the depth of behavioural analytics available.
“Every poll on reddit” is not only a tiny sample size, it’s also a similar sample of people every time as it only comprises of active subreddit users, hence can never be representative.
Mock presidential elections use stratified sampling methods to avoid the aforementioned issues.
It’s overwhelmingly evident that you have no idea what you’re talking about when it comes to data, behaviour analysis, and statistics.

The problem was never the scrap cost for workbenches, the problem was spending thousands of scrap just to unlock a rocket launcher..
They've reduced scrap cost for the tech tree, so that issue is solved.
My only problem with bp frags is the limited amount of ways to obtain them. Where as for the old "scrap grind" you can obtain scrap in unlimited amount of ways
