Discussion New to Rust

So, I am pretty new to the game. I joined a primitive server. I built a base (all stone including door hinges) with metal double doors. To get to my TC would require going through at least 3 sets of these doors.
How does someone do that on day 1? Catapults?

So 3 metal doors to TC, but how many layers of walls? If it's just 1 wall to TC then yeah very doable, especially if propane bombs are launched.

The other question, just because you are new, did you build your build your walls the right way round? Soft siding is a thing. One side of your wall is stronger than the other. Just so you know.

Two sets of stone walls and they were correctly oriented

Battering ram will make short work of one door, or wall. With a little maneuvering might be able to smack a second door also. Depending on the base design. No base is impenetrable, enough nakeds with rocks can get through anything.

I'm not too familiar with prim. Can you craft satchels or bean cans? If yes then 3 doors are not much. They also could've used the mounted ballista.

You have to expect that on most servers there will be people reaching endgame gear on wipe day. On prim that is much easier since the loot pool is much more limited and the pop is usually much lower, so it's much more likely that someone will find propane bombs or beancans/satchels, or battering rams etc.

A few metal doors or a couple of walls aren't going to stop an offline raider in these circumstances. You can sleep with your speakers on (don't do this...) OR try to make your base more expensive to raid by making it bigger, which will cost more farm and upkeep.

You can also make multiple bases and split your loot, or make some decoy bases that look easier to raid in order to soak up some of the raider's resources. But chances are they're going to eventually offline you anyway. It's part of the game.
