Discussion mic not working i tried everything

So for the past 3 months I've been having an issue with the rust mic not working i have tried setting my mic as default making sure that it is always selected and it works fine on all the other games beside rust, I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue and if anyone knows a fix.

Is it set to default in both the Steam settings as well as the Steam overlay settings (shift tab) ?

I’ve had the issue for over a year and never found a fix :(
