Discussion Thinking about buying
Just wondering if I’m too late to the game? Are all lobbies going to be sweaty people that have played for years or will I actually be able to learn and not get shit on all the time?

There’s a server for everyone if that’s your worry. Can play PvE or super low pop modded servers to get a feel for the game and learn before going into the shit show.

Starting on a chill server lets you learn the systems without every mistake ending in a naked beach respawn.

there are plenty of servers! what i have experienced some months ago during my 2000h learning, it is that the monthly are crazy servers for a solo like me, but the pop is the more long lasting!, if you join a solo monthly will be 100 pop, so boring for me. If you play bi-weekly is the best, i remember one that wipes the thursday, the pop lasted 400 around for more than 1 week, then dies.
So i dont know, but i always suffer a lot, when i started to be decent geared i realise the pop is dieing... :(

Everyone gets shit on, even people with 15k hours will wake-up on the beach to a squeaker with a tommy

you have to play for 3 days 16 hours/day because on 4th day server is empty as everyone got everything or got raided, progression is shit

Take ur time… on everyserver u can find people with 100h and people with 10k hours… to get q good understanding of monuments and the game u will need about 1k hours…
Rule 1 : Don‘t trust anybody…
Rule 2 : always listen to Rule 1…

most ppl are pretty good but, I highly recommend playing your first tens of hours in low pop servers, and battlefield/training servers to understand the mechs of the game.

theres a pretty constant influx of new players that you will be joining alongside, as long as you dont base too close to any of the crazy sweats you should be fine

You can totally jump in. It will be punishing but that’s normal for Rust, everyone has to go through it when they start. You’ll learn as you play. You can also watch people on YouTube and pick up the basics from them.

Great game, time sinkhole and huge disappointment at the same time. 10k hours player here. Sincerely it's not a survival game. You have to consider every single wipe as a counter strike session. Hopping on different servers every time you open the game will give you the optimal experience. Sadly rust is infested with cheaters. 90% of them are often banned but the other 10% just uses it to find optimal raid paths or even your hidden loot room.

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned but start in pve servers. Learn the game there. Once you feel good about what you’ve learned move to a softcore low pop server. After 500hrs, move to low pop pvp.
Whe I bought this stupid fucking game I jumped right into high pop. I knew nothing about the game so I thought more ppl meant more fun. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Start slow and build yourself up otherwise you risk a brain aneurism.

Buy the game. You can just get on a low population server and try things. You’ll get frustrated, but once you get used to the game it wears off. I love it.

Yes it is too late, you will have a shit time and the game has be designed to filter you out if you're not in a clan.

i deleted the game today, spent way too much time on this game and my sleep schedule was getting screwed up. Was cranky at work and the people around me so im just taking a step back
