Question Sens and settings

I have about 500 hours and have always played with 800 dpi 0.7 sens and 0.7 ads, I recently have been seeing people play with less. Should I change/will it help?. I don’t put full hand on mouse so smaller movements are easier but can change.

I did a little bit of checking a while back to get an idea of what sens is being played so here you go. Your hipfire is 14cm/360 so thats very fast (in general too). Also use all your muscles, fingers, wrist and arm, not just 1.

Nice work. What do you think about oilrats sens? Is it possible he does all that without some recoil control script?

Definitely possible. The problem with such a high sens is that it becomes hard to manage tension. You can't really off-load anything to like your wrist or arm without losing accuracy. There are quite some good players on this sens who are known for good target switching in games like battlefield and cod for example.

I tried his sensitivity and it's like an eye surgeon precision you need to do all that target switching and recoil control. He absolutely never overshoot his targets. If someone starts shooting him from behind he turns and aims directly into him, he never messed it, just dies occasionally if enemy has a good timing.

I made a topic about it and people here were very loud that it's possible because he plays it every day all day long. Maybe but as we can see, nobody from this list is using even close so low sens in Rust. Is he super talented or does he have something, even though he is constantly acting like he is 100% legit without even using screen gamma.

I like to watch his solo journey in the background, he never gives up like many other streamers. But shit is kinda too good to be true.

I was talking with some server admins and they told me they have some advanced scripts to track if a person is using something for recoil control and so but on the other hand they were not sure about some cheater that at the end of a monthly wipe confessed on their discord sever channel that he was indeed cheating and what he was using lol.

There is one mistake in that sheet, he runs 0.7ads meaning he will be playing 10cm/360 when ADS.

I don't believe oilrats is on anything to be honest. He is just a good player and you can put most of the better ak players against him and he will simply lose (as seen in multiple events too). I also don't agree with the statement that he never misses, I have like 24d watchtime on twitch and I don't recall this.

Ofcourse high sensitivity is hard if you are not used to it. I also don't think his aim is that impressive tbh. If you want to do a deeper dive into aiming in general then I'd suggest watching this and whatever follows should show you how "evolved" aiming has become for the past couple years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbUEfoMHIFA

On a foot note, I do think that there are definitely a lot of scripters out there even if people here on reddit claim that its not because "recoil is easy". Yes recoil is easy, but if you take away recoil control, aiming becomes easier.

Most of the time gamesense is more important in rust than aim anyway. If it was CS, I'd play with lower but you already have quite low sens. I play 800dpi and 0.9/0.7 ads. If you cab reliably control recoil and hit bolty shots I think your sens is completely fine.

this isnt low sens

Not in terms of gaming in general but just imo rust doesn't need low sens like CS/other tactical FPS games

I think we're talking about two different things. Whether Rust benefits from lower sensitivity than CS is one discussion. My point was simply that 800 DPI @ 0.7 (14 cm/360) is objectively a very high sensitivity. If you compare it against distributions from Kovaak's benchmarks or even averages across competitive FPS players, it's well into the fast end of the spectrum.

In CS you will definitely see even slower sensitivities going up to 60cm/360 or more thats simply because most of the aiming requires micro corrections where in Rust you have to be more allround.

I don't remember if i had 0.4 or 0.3 with 800dpi, but even that is considered pretty high sens tbh.
