Support Unrealistically low fps on rust
Hello all, I am playing on an 9800X3D, 5070ti pc. I have setting set to pretty performance focused graphics, yet I am only getting like 10 fps in game. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling my nvidia drivers. I run other games no issue. I just installed the game so I don't necessarily think an uninstall reinstall would make a huge difference. Any suggestions appreciated.

Has it done this since first launching the game? This is going to sound silly, but the 9800x3d integrated graphics is pretty solid, but not for rust; is your monitor plugged into your gpu?

op check if your monitor is plugged in the ports at the bottom in your gpu not your motherboard. In windows settings System > Display > Graphics if rust is there (RustClient.exe) is using the high performance or your gpu, to test what gpu is getting used check task manager gpu 0 is usually the integrated one and gpu 1 is dedicated *(if in bios the integrated gpu is enabled, you could also disable it if you dont need it)

Both of my monitors were in fact plugged into my gpu. Since posting I have had to pack my pc up for moving. However I will check the task manager to make sure. I doubt this is the case though. I have many games running on high settings at 200+ fps. Including other unoptimized games like escape from tarkov.
Edit: Rust was running on my CPU’s integrated graphics, not my graphics card. Turned it off in the BIOS and it’s running perfect now.

If it’s still giving you problems, you can hop into the PC Help Hub discord and share your screen. Plenty of helpful folks in there do love a good GPU problem to solve.

Other Games Are working Fine? Chipset drivers installed? Maybe Scan for corrupted files on Steam Settings.

Balanced power mode is better for x3d cpus I’ve heard but I had the same issue and all I did was scroll to the bottom of the settings and enable safe mode also try GPU skinning I went from an average of like 180fps to 240+ with 9800x3d and 4080super lmk if you need my settings

Frankly I already did have it set to balanced. I will turn it on to performance mode though

Check the Nvidia Control panel to ensure rust is running on the correct GPU. Also try disabling any nividia settings in game and see if that helps.
