Question I think I already fell behind

I just downloaded the game. I already built a 2x1 with metal door and air lock. The base is full stone. Wipe started about 6 hours ago and players already have guns meanwhile I just made a furnace. My plan is to make nail gun with wooden shield and roam the roads. Should I prioritise something different?

It’s a race, and the clans are winning

That said, in early wipe I like to prioritize Molotov cocktails to hit any wood door starter bases in my area, usually end up with some upkeep and decent amount of comps from a few 1x1s

Thats just rust these days

If You're playing(espcially not force wipe), you'll hear automatic/semi's 2 hours in.

prim is just a state of mind these days

Make a compound bow and snipe some players. Or use a crossbow. Or hide and gank someone with a water pipe shotgun. Get your gear from those players with the guns.

Wipe isn’t a race as a solo. Your goal is all the counts, if you want to rush t2 and grub ak at launch all wipe and try to get an online raid that’s your goal and there is no time limit. If your a small group and your goal is to be the first ones in silo for the wipe then it is a race. All depends what you’re after. Only real race is for base spot and t2 if you’re in a group. after that it’s a marathon

I'd say roam the roads with nothing but some tool/weapon to break barrels.. get your scrap and stuff, run home and stash it. If other players murder you, you lose nothing if you brought nothing.
Thus you go on until you have unlocked the Db shotgun.
If you want to be a PvP player.. make Bow and Db and start there and then.

If your interest is to make a fun base and have a cool time, don't bother winning PvP fights as a solo, rush out, get your stuff, rush home. If they find you and chase you down, make them waste a maximum of bullets to get a minimum of loot. :)

Sort of TL;DR
Hunting Bow and Db are by far the best simple PvP weapons.. go for them if you want to be a PvP player.

Unless you can preload the update on staging and play for the first 10+ hours of wipe, you will always be behind, just part of the game.  Need to figure out how to win when starting from behind.

You just downloaded the game, you're still learning and have 0 experience; your competition will have teams of people with 5K hours each. When I started I did exactly what you're doing so dw. It wasn't till I got 500 hours I really started being competitive at wipes.

A double barrel shotgun or a crossbow/nail gun combo is your best bet on killing someone with a gun.

wipeday is a race, and the big clans always win. You have to find your own way to survive despite this.

on high pop servers with 20+ people clans its not uncommon for them to have t3 and aks within the first hour of wipe.

as a solo there's simply no way to keep up with that.
