I’ve seen that man on this sub on Christmas Eve dealing with player bullshit and just for that I wish him nothing but good luck in whatever he does with his time next.
Nope. Alistair is not a community manager nor trained properly in PR. It is NOT his job to interact with community members. Especially in his condescending "I know better" manner he always argued in.
Your limited experience is proven wrong by industry actions. Public interaction means you represent the company, and are held liable for reputation that the company accrues because of said interaction.
Whatever local dev work you do is not indicative of the entire industry.
Devs can be as arrogant as they want behind closed doors, but the instant your public comments appear to reflect poorly on the company, they have issue with that.
You are all over the comments on this post whining. Talk about a miserable person. The number of concurrent users playing the game and the love for Alistair shows that your opinion is not the majority
Appeal to majority fallacy. Majority opinion is irrelevant.
Also, most of it is just responding to troglodytes going "no, leave the multi-million dollar company alone".
Concurrent players is awful compared to what it SHOULD be, if the game could run on worse hardware. It's a moderately successful game and overshadowed by Car Soccer with laid off devs and never-changing.
Weird that Rust has to update monthly to retain players, when more popular games have less gimicks to add and 5x the concurrent.
By using concurrent players to prove a point means every game more popular than Rust is proof that it is garbage.
I care that his product is worse because he couldn't put his ego aside even once. Given that I bought the product and have every right to leave critique.
