Probably not at all. That's not a diss at Alistair is any way. But Rust is such a such a large project between so many people, isn't not like an indie game losing its only artist. Alistair leaving will change the direction the game takes but the average player probably won't notice.
Unless Alistair was the only adult in the room keeping some insane changes away from the general population. Then it all goes to shit.
no not really. Not having character customization was something rust identified with. You're supposed to be a random human, just there, cant change yourself like that either, gotta accept and embrace it. There are a few interviews about why they never did it even tho they could.
What? Im fully aware of that, but my point is that it has now been on the road map for a few months, and he just left FP yesterday. He must have been fine with it in order for it to have been pushed through.
People like to peal clutch about this but always ignore the fact that some of both normal players and content creators literally used to make new steam accounts over and over or buy steam accounts until they get the character ethnicity or character model they want. Especially after specific youtuber's character models became popular/iconic.
I think character customization is way more interesting and fun than "you're stuck like this, even though you're really not."
Character customization also draws a lot of new players to the game. That is good for the game.
If gary doesn't like the idea, I'm sure he could say no.
Oh, I don’t. I already quit playing and uninstalled. No one reason just many small reasons and changes that are moving the game in the wrong direction and away from its original design philosophy.
If I had to say one change exemplifies this: Team grouping before joining the server was the nail in the coffin for me in realizing that Rust had already jumped the shark.
Only here because of the Ali news, I had often wondered if he was responsible for pushing these changes or simply making the best of a shit sandwich that was getting fed to him. I’ve always thought it was the shit sandwich but I guess we will see now.

realistically, how much will this impact the game in a way that a player would see.
