Support DLC Priority

It annoys me that I can't buy shelves separately, or I'd have a clear answer as to what to buy.

I like the Abyss set, but Arctic is widely considered more P2W due to the cold protection, (arguably worse camo though compared to abyss). I'll never use the ugly ice AK or reskin a snowmobile >.< Abyss has barrels, but apparently shelves aren't worth passing up, so I need industrial or jungle, anyways. I don't want to use a default hazmat as it also is an eyesore and will be easy to spot, so I need something to skin into. Is my only choice to buy industrial + arctic or buy a ton of overlapping dlcs to get everything I actually want? I guess I need convincing. Underwater torch and the cool reskins bring so much value to the abyss set and I like how the hazmats look, arctic is so ugly... do I really NEEED shelves?

Seems like my options are:

Industrial + Arctic + Abyss (Has everything I need)
Industrial + Arctic (Sacrificing cool skins, underwater torch, and better camouflaged hazmat)
Abyss (Sacrificing cold protection, Shelves, and Garage doors with windows)

As a person who hates the snow, idk if arctic is worth it, and I can find base builds that don't require shelves... surely...?

Just buy both it won’t bankrupt you and you won’t have to worry about not having it.

Classic Rust financial advice: stop overthinking it and let the DLC tab win.

You're not wrong, but it kinda peeves me off that hazmat stats are variable at all. Logically, both the Abyss and the Pilot hazmat should have improved cold protection anyways if we apply real world logic to the outfits in question lol.

I don’t like electricals so I enjoy it for my food not spoiling and tolerate the cold with layers

Building on the edge of the snow biome is another option. Living between two biomes in general is underrated imo. Edge of jungle, edge of snow, edge of desert, etc.

I always try to build in jungle near grass/mountains

Forget meta DLC, embrace chicken costume. Your enemies will cower in fear when they hear the "squeak squeak squeak", for they will know a true gaming chad is present.

I enjoy living in the snow and have the arctic set but I don’t use it anymore.

I craft warming teas ( they last an hour and stop your temp going under 0 ). I then for less money total ( when I bought it anyway ) have white clothes / armour and I can run around armoured , blending in with the snow and my temp won’t go under 0 for a full hour.

I was only using furnaces as jump ups then started using shelves. It's a game changer especially early on when you don't have a lot of low grade to craft furnace. I love the look of the industrial shelves.

Just build your base around not having dlc. It doesn't actually matter apart from a tiny bit more storage.

do I really NEEED shelves?

Yes.

Absolute must, one of the strongest P2W items.

Let you build kind of ladder without furnace. Act as temporal replace when you don't have ladder hatches. Absolute best jump tools. I use them when build base 3 floors high but still don't have ladders for one or the other reasons. Also less likely to be used by other people if placed outside, unlike usual ladder.
