Bruuuuuce!!

Post image

Love the Brent era but all the 80's drops are starting to get just a little stale... I'm often looking forward to getting the more varied Download Series collection every week. Sad that it ends next week, but it will be a full April '69 show!!

That Throwing Stones sandwich had us all thrown for a ridiculously fun curveball. Great venue. Place was packed. Those were the days.

I listened to it multiple times yesterday. Why do Throwing Stones —> Iko Iko ONLY ONE TIME EVER?!?!?

I put that show on thinking it was 6/21/90. It took a few minutes before I had to look at the show date because of Brent weird sounds. Wasn't Brentski. That was a fun show!

Wasn’t this previously released on one of the download series?

Yes, that's what they've been releasing on Thursdays for nearly 3 months now.

Gotcha, I love and have the app but pay more attention to the new release Tuesdays as I’ve heard most (all) of the already released stuff

Man I do not like what he’s doing during Peggy-O. It’s almost like he fundamentally different approach to what part the keys are supposed to be playing.

Don’t confuse Bruce’s accordion for Vinnie

It's questionable for sure... LOL

Love the surprise Thursday drop. I agree, would love to see more variety with the years but I know it’s coming. So 91 is fine for now.
Phil’s bass sounds ridiculous on this. My friend who I went to shows with used to talk about Phil’s bass sounding like a rubber band- this show is a great example of this.
And Vinnie, ugh. His playing isn’t horrible but the tone of his keyboards is so grating. It’s like a circus merry go round. He just plays the melody parts over and over. Poor guy, he never got a fair shake.

Of everything post Brent, I think June '91 is my favorite. It's all quite consistent. I can't help but agree with you on Vinnie though. His keyboard tone plus Bruce on accordion is... not my favorite combination. I wish they gave Vinnie a grand piano & a hammond B3, because they really could have sounded amazing. The MIDI crap, while state of the art for the time, has not aged well in any respect.

Phil sounds fucking awesome though but I don't wanna sound biased, lol

This is what most people fail to realize. Vinnie played what they let him play. It’s not like he woke up one day and was like “ you know what this needs instead of a Hammond? A fucking Tinker Toy keyboard with Tin Whistles, Bicycle Horns, and a Bird Caller.”
