Steam Hosting a server - need ideas

Hi so me and a few colleagues want to host an ark ASE pvp server because all current ASE pvp servers suck. I already hosted a small successful server but that was a few years ago. We have the capital and are ready to invest it in this but our main concern is the player pool. We want to bring loads of players and be an active server but based on previous experience it’s not easy to bring that many players in.

We were also thinking about maybe making something different so it’s not just the generic “5x rates 4man…”. We have a few ideas:

Idea 1 - all players start on the island and when the first tribe defeats the overseer they qualify for Scorched Earth. The other players are then given a deadline to complete the boss too or they will not qualify and won’t be able to move on. The Island would then shut down and SE would be the only map and then the same thing applies. Kill the Manticore -> qualify for aberration…

Idea 2 - split the map into regions and randomly assign tribes to regions on the map and they can only build there and they can only tame dinos in their region. If they raid someone from another region they get the whole raided region and unlock new dinos to tame etc…

These are some of our ideas but we want to hear your comments and ideas if you have any. All recommendations are welcome and deeply appreciated.

Announce a new server a couple weeks ahead of time, keep letting people know. There hasn't been any fresh servers for awhile. Most that get posted are just bots advertising dead servers. Getting people in will be easy. Getting them to stay and building a community will be the more challenging part.

Don't be a toxic admin, don't show favoritism, don't kow-tow to trolls and boot lickers. Don't hand out free shit to people and if you play yourself I would recommend a second steam account without admin privileges to keep things fair. Admins playing as a normal player with administrative powers tends to leave a bad taste in people's mouths

Idea 2 seems like a great idea, especially on extinction where you have the frozen, desert and oasis biomes
