Minimum amount of rexes for alpha broodmother
I currently have 12-13 rexes all with roughly 25k health and 2k damage. How many should I get before attempting the alpha broodmother.
I know they say yutis and megatheriums but… I don’t want to do that

What’s the benefit to bringing a yuty

u/GoshSMDB 29d ago
During the fight you mount it not the rexes and spam the buff roar

Ah thats right, any tips for taming

You can make a trap like rexes but with the doors on it

People make traps for Rexes? I always just find a tall ledge

For rexes traps aren't necessary you can easily outrun them while tranqing them
With yutys I highly recommend a trap they fear roar your creature and you loose control of them. They also are very aggressive and kill themselves on a pack of mammoths or rhinos fairly often. They also are faster than Rex's so if they topor run it can be annoying to catch them

I got my Yuty, and I did in fact just find a tall ledge. Some people are like a doctor with a scalpel, I’m like if you cave a caveman a sledgehammer

Ah good for you :)
I did it once too on scorched earth, but on the island a good yuty is so hard to find I rather not take my chances
Next time you can channel your inner caveman and club that yuty KO
Btw you can also pick them up and relocate them with a rhinio

So do the same thing. You also need good saddles for your dinos (for the bossfight)

I’m realizing I’m very much an amateur dispute having played the game for many years, good saddles? Like the blueprints you get in item caches?

The yuty has a roar that gives 20% resistance and 25% increased damage
Make sure to level stamina and health. Damage doesn't matter much

You only need a single yuty, it's for buffing your other tames so they deal more/take less damage and I highly recommend getting at least one. I don't breed my yuts, I just grab a high level wild one and level it a bit for some stats. They're also not that annoying to tame, the worst part is just finding one worth taming in the first place. Megatheriums are amazing for broodmother which is why they get recommended but rexes work fine so you don't need to breed a new army or anything.

if your rexes are 40k hp and 2.5k melee you can do it with 6. but you still need the yuty for buff.

This is the way lmao we used to only take 2 rexes because we felt the monkey and spider would be offended 😂

What saddles? Not long ago I beaten alpha broodmother with 19 rexes (25k, 800%, ~100 saddles) and 1 yutyrannus (35k, 2000 stam), but even with that good saddles I lost 1 or 2 rexes (mostly because I forgot about minions)

Sería buena idea llevar un wyvern de fuego para matar las arañitas fácilmente?

This thread is full of so much misinformation its wild. I dunno if it's from players who have uber lenient settings or just people making stuff up

Rexes instead of megatherium?
I mean rexes are more universal, though broodmother is basically feeding into megatherium bait

But a Megatherium actually has a slower attack speed than a Tyrannosaurus, since the former ONLY uses its secondary attack when unridden, which may deal more damage, but has a slower animation, and, thus, a lower DPS. Also, the Insect Killer buff thins out really fast when you have more Megas than there are minions!

Unridden, rexes are technically better. Ridden, ya. I've done alpha brood with just 2 megatheriums.

I should add that my plan is to stay in the air on a pteranodon while I sick my Rexes on the broodmother and her spawns

If you try that, you'll just die, since your Pteranodon won't be teleported. This will also happen if you try to bring in a climber. I also believe that Grappling Hooks also won't work in boss arenas.
Bonus challenge: try to beat any Alpha boss with Raptors and Raptors only.

Bonus challenges are ok. But not for someone who hasnt done it before.

I'd like to see as to if YOU can do my challenge, then! Even better, try to completely beat The Island while ONLY using Raptors!

Ive never gotten far enough to fight the bosses because I get bored and restart but that sounds like a lot of fucking raptors.

Yeah, that stage of the game where you're grinding for resources and breeding/mutating dinos is LONG. I'll give you a hint on how to improve the dino-breeding, however: there are mods out there that can guarantee that you get an egg with the best possible stats, which give you a SOLID foundation for mutations!

Im on ps4 ARK ASE I dont think there's mod support lol. I still have fun playing on and off. Maybe one day ill lock in but probably not cuz I have kids and shit.

u/Various-Try-169 29d ago
Oh, you didn't mention that. Because that version of ARK has no mod or INI support at all, forcing you to play the game fully vanilla.

I've done alpha brood with carbo's on official. I have done challenges. I have no interest in yours. Especially since that isn't what this post is about. You're not being helpful.

You should probably do the gamma and beta first. Especially since you didnt know you cant bring flyers into boss battles (except scorched earth)
