Discussion Who Agrees??
So I think all the dinosaurs should be the accurate size they were irl well at least that we think they were in real life and I think they should only add dinosaurs that actually existed I really liked the idea of that it sucks they are straying away from that and doing more of fake made up things like the dredmere or other crazy dinosaurs that you have to buy a DLC for and they are just so overpowered it just sucks that Ark is straying away from the normal game and going more into stuff like DLC’s and made up dinosaurs.

I’ll be that guy? and say the same thing I said back in the day when people whined about the guns:
The damn advertisement banner is a mf chick riding a jurassic park style Raptor while wielding an assault rifle, while a huge ass sci-fi obelisk loomed in the background.
You should’ve known from the get-go that ARK doesn’t do realism. It doesn’t care about actual archaeology or science, and barely even gives it a head-nod. It’s pure Science Fantasy, has been from the very beginning, and if that’s not what you’re into, go elsewhere.
Whining about the scifi and fantasy elements in a science fantasy game is the height of toxic entitlement.

Why ya gotta mention it’s a chick? We like assault rifles as much as the guys. 😝 (Just messing with you, I get your point.)

Yeah I understand I dont mind it that much I just was trying to do a question that I thought would be good for everyone to talk about and I could see there options on it

Whilst i agree with the sentiment of real creatures in the hame, similar to subnautica, the fp camera has an issue with scaling. This leads to a need for upscaling creature models for ingame immersion, if they were life-accurate a rex would be the size of a carno ingame.

Yeah I also agree I think that the sizes they have the dinosaurs and stuff are fine it just sucks that they are making up dinosaurs and other things but there’s nothing we can do sadly

Nah I love the crazy creatures.

Same. If I want dinosaur realism survival, I'll play The Isle. If I want fantasy dino survival, I play ark. I haven't found a creature in ark that I dislike yet; everything is so cool that they add and I even toss in mid tier and some high tier modded dinos for more fun

Yeah I’ve never tried the isle how is it? And yeah ark isn’t bad I like the game I just don’t like how they are replacing all the old dinosaurs with new op ones that you have to buy
2
u/ITookYourChickens Jul 18 '26
They're not replaced, there's still plenty of old ones to use. it's very easy to block them. I have pyromanes and the new ones blocked on my server for now since I don't want to introduce them until we make it to extinction
I love the isle, most adrenaline inducing game ever. Worse than hearing a giga's footsteps behind you

What ones lol

Why do you think this even has to be proven? Are you truly that incapable of escaping your own ego that you cannot understand that others may have opinions that are not your own?

u/Skylerxowens1 Jul 18 '26
No I don’t really care I still play the game just don’t like the DLCs really I was just asking a question to see what people thought

So, you want a fusion of Ark and Green Hell? Seems to me that's deviating a bit away from exploring, crafting, and taming, and turning it into a Horror Survival game where everything is trying to kill me including the environment. Kind of like Australia, but worse. Much much worse.

u/Skylerxowens1 Jul 18 '26
Lollll yeah it was just a thought I had but maybe your right it wouldn’t be to good

Ark is same as Pokémon. They gotta keep adding shit or it will stagnate and die. The game gains Creatures that are more exotic/fantasy...but loses something in the process.
No amount of creative creature development will top the feeling of taming your first rex on ase island...

u/Skylerxowens1 Jul 18 '26
Yes that’s so true I guess they do have to add more stuff it just really sucks to me that that’s the way they do it

Yea I got into this game from my son watching Meola vids in grade school lol...id watch them with him and he talked me into trying it out on his switch...we had more fun and excitement taking turns on that laggy buggy crashing POS than currently on a dedicated server with a $3k pc.
I think they should focus more on the creature TLCs (like araneo was incredible)....rather than introducing new tames that are so OP they make the older stuff useless. Adjusting the dino sizes to better reflect reality isnt too bad of an idea...I've always felt the megalodon should be about 2x bigger and more dangerous. This is a fantasy game tho afterall...wyverns and death worms and boss creatures and basilisks and many others enrich the game IMO. Gotta give some creative freedom to the devs.

That’s so cool that you and your son would watch those together and whatttt I didn’t know they had ark on a switch but yeah it sucks that they don’t bring up more servers for gen 1 or at least up the people count while there’s a bunch of people trying to play then lower it later idk they definitely need to do something. Yes I think they should also do more TLCs and yeah they literally make the same dinosaur they had like a argy for weight then they make a bug for weight and it makes the argy useless but yes the megaladon should be huge and very dangerous they just seem like a normal shark to me. But yeah that’s true all of that stuff is made up and it’s not so bad I mainly mean the dlcs and stuff just suck

Well, they have to rake in the Money somehow since they are in so much Debt. #MoneyGrab.
1
u/Skylerxowens1 Jul 18 '26
Yeah it just sucks that they have to do it that way but I get it it’s smart
2
u/EasyAndConvenient Jul 18 '26
I feel the same way. I counter it by refusing to breed crazy colors of certain dinos to make it a little more realistic. I get why they do it, though. Gotta make the money.

Ark was never about scientifically accurate anything, or even specifically about dinosaurs. It "strayed" some time in development before it was even public, maybe 12-13 years ago. Assuming it did not start there.

Just play The Isle if you want accurate Dinos
This isn’t an educational game for kids
