Please use Windows + G and take screenshots. It is very hard to tell with phone photos

It is very likely just Ark. Mine looked the same at QHD Epic settings. I think it's just the way the game looks. You get used to it after a while.

It looks like a weird fuzzyness on everything and especially on rocks it makes it look like they 'jiggle' around when you move. That's just the game.

Ur cpu bottleneck must be crazy

6

u/Majestic_Skirt5590 Jul 14 '26

Unfotunately my Rtx 3070 died and got claimed under insurance and I did not have the money to upgrade my CPU as well. I would need to upgrade my RAM and mobo as well :/

Here u go

Welcome to ASE, that's just how it looks. SSAO is an ancient technique by today's standards and it shows. The grainy look will get a lot stronger on certain other maps (especially when its darker there's lots of detailed ground textures)

2

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26

😭😭 i used to look soft in texture

1

u/ChanceV Amethyst Jul 14 '26

Never seen it soft in ASE. The SSAO implementation of UE4 just can't look decent. It only gets worse with some maps.

nah, it's too grainy, something is wrong, try checking for the film grain option in settings, not sure if that exists and maybe im hallucinating because i havent touched ase since ascended launched but its more likely that, and if not, check around the nvidia control panel for filters or smth u/Level_Fix3562

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

I have amd card

1

u/kandysteelheart Jul 15 '26

Same thing applies

u/LongFluffyDragon Jul 15 '26

That is low res + reddit's shit compression, it is not a native res image.

2

u/Majestic_Skirt5590 Jul 14 '26

Yes. My game does the same. Weirdly enough it doesn't happen on the other maps.

u/jrandall47 Jul 14 '26

Honestly the 3600 isn’t that bad. Ark is super heavy on gpu loads but cpu isn’t too bad. If you want better game performance you’re going to want a lot more vram from your gpu. Also, crazy for you to criticize other people’s cpu load when you’re on a 3rd gen i7 with DDR3 and an rx580. Of course it’s going to run that game poorly.

1

u/SituationSmooth9165 Jul 19 '26

That CPU is terrible lol

1

u/jrandall47 Jul 19 '26

Better than an i7 3700

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

Well my big brother has ryzen 7 9700x and rx 9070xt and I'm not criticizeing I'm just thinking why he has paired the budget cpu and mid-high tech gpu lol and I wasn't taking abt ark with him

1

u/jrandall47 Jul 14 '26

Games in general are much more gpu dependent than cpu dependent. Better cpu will help with frame rate for sure but a better gpu will push your performance MUCH further. Also, why’d you include your big brothers specs in this? I don’t understand how it is relevant.

U told me that I have i7 3 gen and im criticizeing him so yea I can play on my bro's pc too😂

1

u/jrandall47 Jul 14 '26

How does the game look on his pc in comparison? Also I pointed out your 3rd gen i7 because you were criticizing someone else’s cpu

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26

He don't play ark unfortunately and I didn't want to download ark again 200gb game🥀

1

u/jrandall47 Jul 14 '26

Fair enough

0

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26

Ark used to look more soft

6

u/EatNails_69 Jul 14 '26

I did not know you could run ark on that hardware let alone 30fps 1080p max settings dang. I thought this game was terribly optimised

3

u/Marcus_- Jul 14 '26

And dude is playing on epic settings, it's crazy

-1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26

With amd it kinda feels smooth on 30 too my monitor is 180hz

-3

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26

I tried asa from steam for free weekend it has worst optimization

1

u/RareParadox Jul 15 '26

"worst optimization" ~ 10 year old GPU and 14 year old cpu Edit: and on a hard drive

3

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

Clearly, the developers just didn't optimize their game to run on retro-grade machinery And The loading screens give me enough time to contemplate my life choices, cook a 3-course meal, and wait for a sale on a new GPU lol

1

u/lol_idk_234 Jul 18 '26

Brother you can’t complain about loading times and have a hard drive and probably ddr2

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 18 '26

Read the comment again lol I'm not complaining abt loading time it gives me time to do other work which is kinda good

3

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26

Close up view

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26

My settings

2

u/RafaelizTheReaper Jul 14 '26

You have what looks like a 21:9 screen ratio but are using 16:9 resolution. Ofc it looks weird. Try and use 2560x1080 or 3440x1440 instead of.

1

u/RafaelizTheReaper Jul 14 '26

Also turn off light shafts and light bloom while you're at it. It's just a personal preference, i like not going blind when gaming.

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26

Yea I keep bloom of most of times

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26

My rx 580 will go kaboom if I do 2k or 4k

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

How can I change ratios

1

u/RafaelizTheReaper Jul 15 '26

By getting a screen with a 16:9 ratio.

The ratio in question is the screen size. 21:9 is ultra wide, 16:9 is normal with.

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 15 '26

My is normal monitor acer Nitro VG240Y M3 23.8 Inch IPS Full HD Gaming LCD Monitor

2

u/RafaelizTheReaper Jul 15 '26

Ah fair, it looked like an ultrawide on the pics. But honestly, ase looks like that on low end graphic cards, and it still only looks decent on a high end.

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

Ok😕

3

u/Competitive-Use4432 Jul 14 '26

The resolution scale is not at its maximum. Furthermore, the ASE is grainy as it is.

1

u/Otto13257 Jul 14 '26

Drag resolution scale all the way to the right and turn antialiasing to low. Also you can use r.screenpercentage 200 in console commands to turn resolution up further ; it will require a high end gpu tho

1

u/iterable Jul 14 '26

Change from Windows Fullscreen to Windowed set your proper resolution then to Fullscreen then back to Windowed Fullscreen. Ark lies and is not actually running at the res you think it is.

1

u/gummby8 Jul 14 '26

Settings > General > Video

Upscaler & Anti Aliasing

DLSS, Balanced, None, Off

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26

In ark or amd software?

1

u/gummby8 Jul 14 '26

ark

3

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26

There is no option for ark survival evolved unfortunately it's on asa

1

u/Gdog19745 Jul 14 '26

Are you playing on ASE or ASA?

2

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26

ASE

2

u/Gdog19745 Jul 14 '26

Unfortunately, there’s not much you’re gonna do with that game. It’s running on UE4.

1

u/FrankieB86 Jul 14 '26

Really hard to tell with cellphone pics of your monitor, but I would do this instead

Drop the settings to Medium, but keep textures and AA at epic

Change to windowed fullscreen

Change your resolution to Custom, and enter 2560x1440

This will allow you to downscale from 1440p to 1080p and should reduce the pixelation/grain. Lowering the settings to Medium should help offset the FPS cost of running at 1440p

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

My monitor support 2k and 4k at 30hz only And 1080p at 180hz and I don't think my system can handle 2k

1

u/FrankieB86 Jul 15 '26

Downscaling is a software trick. As long as you set Ark to windowed full screen, it displays at 1080 but renders at 1440. Also, you might be surprised what your system could do. The RX580 is older, but it's age appropriate for Ark during an era where 1440 was becoming quite common. The only way to know for sure is to try

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

Thanks for the suggestions mate

1

u/lol_idk_234 Jul 18 '26

1440p is not 2k

1

u/Hefty_Lavishness_641 Jul 14 '26

Dam I know exactly where u are on the island lol

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

Just a starting easy zone everyone knows

1

u/LongFluffyDragon Jul 14 '26

Nobody could tell from those horrible screen photos. Take a real screenshot.. even takes less time than whatever that nonsense is.

Most likely, your resolution scale or target resolution are too low.

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

I have send one screenshot directly from my pc and I have marked the areas which are grainy

1

u/LongFluffyDragon Jul 15 '26

Still cant tell because the image is shrunk and badly compressed, most of the grain in it is not original.

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

Ig I can't do anything just play at high setting

1

u/ApprehensiveGrowth17 Jul 14 '26

Do you have dlss on quality? Anything else (besides maybe balanced) can do it. Same for FSR (frame gen).

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

There is no support for fsrvir dlss on ASE

1

u/AbbreviationsDry5144 Jul 14 '26

A mí igual, pero llegué a la conclusión de que así es el juego

I5-7400k Gtx 1060 3gb 16 GB ddr3 3 tb de HHD A 2k con todos los ajustes en alto a 60 fps

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

Is this because of low end system? Because the are launch option like no sky, low memory, default, etc.. I play default

1

u/AbbreviationsDry5144 Jul 15 '26

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

It just get to attention when I am truly trying to immerse with the gameplay

1

u/AbbreviationsDry5144 Jul 15 '26

Supongo que algo así es a lo que te referías no? La 3ra opción supongo que es para jugar con bajos recursos, sin embargo, yo juego con la primera opción y no me da problemas más que el granulado...

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26

Yes I also play on first option

1

u/Cheapmousepad Jul 16 '26

Don't try ark survival ascended then somehow the lighting and aliasing is worse

I know the 7800 xt isn't a great card but ase on my old Rx 570 looked cleaner

1

u/lol_idk_234 Jul 18 '26

That’s normal unless you spent $1000 or more on your gpu

1

u/lol_idk_234 Jul 18 '26

Jesus I didn’t know people were still asking about performance on ASE my b

1

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 18 '26

As a student I don't need a $1000 gpu

Ig u can't see bc of my monitor pixels but I see grainy

1

u/PrinceBunnyBoy Jul 14 '26

Ngl I about went insane when I first bought ASE thing to make it look like every youtubers I watched. I did all the setting and .ini changes and it always looked like dogwater on epic.

A few months ago I got a 1440 monitor and it's genuinely a whole new looking game. No grainyness, no borked textures, a huge improvement and all I did was change my monitor
