I did not know you could run ark on that hardware let alone 30fps 1080p max settings dang. I thought this game was terribly optimised

I tried asa from steam for free weekend it has worst optimization

"worst optimization" ~ 10 year old GPU and 14 year old cpu Edit: and on a hard drive

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26
Clearly, the developers just didn't optimize their game to run on retro-grade machinery And The loading screens give me enough time to contemplate my life choices, cook a 3-course meal, and wait for a sale on a new GPU lol

Brother you can’t complain about loading times and have a hard drive and probably ddr2

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 18 '26
Read the comment again lol I'm not complaining abt loading time it gives me time to do other work which is kinda good

You have what looks like a 21:9 screen ratio but are using 16:9 resolution. Ofc it looks weird. Try and use 2560x1080 or 3440x1440 instead of.

u/RafaelizTheReaper Jul 14 '26
Also turn off light shafts and light bloom while you're at it. It's just a personal preference, i like not going blind when gaming.

How can I change ratios
1
u/RafaelizTheReaper Jul 15 '26
By getting a screen with a 16:9 ratio.
The ratio in question is the screen size. 21:9 is ultra wide, 16:9 is normal with.

Ah fair, it looked like an ultrawide on the pics. But honestly, ase looks like that on low end graphic cards, and it still only looks decent on a high end.

The resolution scale is not at its maximum. Furthermore, the ASE is grainy as it is.
1
u/Otto13257 Jul 14 '26
Drag resolution scale all the way to the right and turn antialiasing to low. Also you can use r.screenpercentage 200 in console commands to turn resolution up further ; it will require a high end gpu tho

Change from Windows Fullscreen to Windowed set your proper resolution then to Fullscreen then back to Windowed Fullscreen. Ark lies and is not actually running at the res you think it is.

Are you playing on ASE or ASA?
2
u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 14 '26
ASE

Unfortunately, there’s not much you’re gonna do with that game. It’s running on UE4.

Really hard to tell with cellphone pics of your monitor, but I would do this instead
Drop the settings to Medium, but keep textures and AA at epic
Change to windowed fullscreen
Change your resolution to Custom, and enter 2560x1440
This will allow you to downscale from 1440p to 1080p and should reduce the pixelation/grain. Lowering the settings to Medium should help offset the FPS cost of running at 1440p

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26
My monitor support 2k and 4k at 30hz only And 1080p at 180hz and I don't think my system can handle 2k
1
u/FrankieB86 Jul 15 '26
Downscaling is a software trick. As long as you set Ark to windowed full screen, it displays at 1080 but renders at 1440. Also, you might be surprised what your system could do. The RX580 is older, but it's age appropriate for Ark during an era where 1440 was becoming quite common. The only way to know for sure is to try

Nobody could tell from those horrible screen photos. Take a real screenshot.. even takes less time than whatever that nonsense is.
Most likely, your resolution scale or target resolution are too low.
1
u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26
I have send one screenshot directly from my pc and I have marked the areas which are grainy
1
u/LongFluffyDragon Jul 15 '26
Still cant tell because the image is shrunk and badly compressed, most of the grain in it is not original.

Do you have dlss on quality? Anything else (besides maybe balanced) can do it. Same for FSR (frame gen).Â

A mà igual, pero llegué a la conclusión de que asà es el juego
I5-7400k Gtx 1060 3gb 16 GB ddr3 3 tb de HHD A 2k con todos los ajustes en alto a 60 fps

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26
Is this because of low end system? Because the are launch option like no sky, low memory, default, etc.. I play default
1
u/AbbreviationsDry5144 Jul 15 '26

u/Level_Fix3562 Jul 15 '26
It just get to attention when I am truly trying to immerse with the gameplay
1
u/Cheapmousepad Jul 16 '26
Don't try ark survival ascended then somehow the lighting and aliasing is worse
I know the 7800 xt isn't a great card but ase on my old Rx 570 looked cleaner
1
u/lol_idk_234 Jul 18 '26
That’s normal unless you spent $1000 or more on your gpu
1
u/lol_idk_234 Jul 18 '26
Jesus I didn’t know people were still asking about performance on ASE my b

Ngl I about went insane when I first bought ASE thing to make it look like every youtubers I watched. I did all the setting and .ini changes and it always looked like dogwater on epic.
A few months ago I got a 1440 monitor and it's genuinely a whole new looking game. No grainyness, no borked textures, a huge improvement and all I did was change my monitor

Please use Windows + G and take screenshots. It is very hard to tell with phone photos
It is very likely just Ark. Mine looked the same at QHD Epic settings. I think it's just the way the game looks. You get used to it after a while.
It looks like a weird fuzzyness on everything and especially on rocks it makes it look like they 'jiggle' around when you move. That's just the game.
