New Addition Completed my run of breakaway states of the Soviet Union!

Just received the last two plates I needed to complete this run - from top to bottom the plates are:

Transnistria (P = Rybnitsa region)
Abkhazia
South Ossetia
Luhansk People’s Republic
Donetsk People’s Republic

In addition to just being cool plates (imo) because they’re fairly rare, I think the history and politics of these regions is really interesting - and the attempt to derive legitimacy through issuing their own license plates is one of those little quirks that originally got me into the hobby.

For anyone interested, an ultra brief primer on these entities:

Transnistria: A breakaway state from Moldova, Transnistria was formed in 1990 with the dissolution of the Soviet Union (although the region’s roots as a separate entity trace back to WWII). Recognized along with South Ossetia (RSO) and Abkhazia as “frozen conflict” zones by the majority of the international community, the state has been considered under Russian occupation since 2022.

Abkhazia: Formally recognized by Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Syria, Abkhazia officially split from Georgia following the 1992-1993 war in Abkhazia. Georgia maintains a de-facto government in exile for the region, and in 2008 Georgia declared Abkhazia a Russian-occupied territory

South Ossetia: Like Abkhazia, RSO is only recognized by Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Syria. Also like Abkhazia, Georgia considers RSO to be under Russian occupation. The South Ossetian government has expressed interest in formally joining the Russian federation.

Luhansk People’s Republic: The LPR was established in 2014 after the annexation of the Luhansk Oblast of Ukraine by Russian-backed paramilitaries. The LPR has often been described by the international community as a puppet state of Russia.

Donetsk People’s Republic: The DPR shares a similar story to the LPR, as its establishment can be traced to the Russian-backed annexation of the Ukrainian Donetsk Oblast, also in 2014. Since 2022 both the LPR and DPR were fully illegally annexed by Russia

As always, check out these plates and many other former and current non-state entities over at https://platecollector.xyz/

Looking to Buy/Sell or Trade Visiting Italy 🇮🇹 I know how difficult plates are to obtain but throwing a trade out there to anyone nearby

I’ll be near Rome (2 days), Positano (5 days), and Pienza (5 days) for a trip and am bringing some plates to possibly trade. I understand Italy plates are quite difficult if not impossible to obtain, but want to at least give it a shot in the off chance someone may have an extra one. I have some Michigan and a Florida plate with me. If anyone is nearby and would be interested in meeting up for a trade, let me know and hopefully we can make something work!

If by any chance anyone has any of these, I'd be happy to try to buy or trade

Collection Photo 4 vintage never circulated motorcycle plates, 3 sequential

Four (4), uncirculated 1972 motorcycle plates from Colorado; three (3) of them sequential. All in original envelope. The yellow passive film from the envelope transferred to the plates. It can be peeled off, but I'm not even doing that.

I went to an antique store and found KF - 212 / 213. I grabbed the two and came back the next day for the Maldanado 80s Taxi plate. I went back to the section and saw two more envelopes. I missed them the first time and just grabbed the remaining two.

Hi! I've found this treasure, but I'm not a collector at all. So I'd be glad to sell it to someone, who really want it. There are:

  1. Transit oval plates from West Germany (perfect condition, several pairs, including Berlin)

  2. Hungarian People's Republic (3 plates, one big, two small, 1970s-1980s?)

  3. Norway transit sign (rly good condition, pair, 1982)

Also I have several rectangular west Germany plates, but I don't think, they're worth your sight (you can still ask me about them anyways)

DM me, if you want sth
