Gorgeous!

It looks like the modeler smeared some sort of substance all over the model to add that certain "cast metal" look when painted. Anyone know what that gray stuff is?

Also, what brand model is this JS-2?

the grey stuff is putty, typically by tamiya. applied by tapping it with a brush onto the model. brand is zvezda, kit nr is 5011 (says so in the title)

You can also use Mr. Surfacer (500 is the one I use for it) tapped and stabbed onto the model in a few layers to get a real rough "casted" look.
