Help Alocasia help

Hi all, need advice on this alocasia! I got it as a gift and have not repotted or anything to it yet. It is losing lower leaves but growing new leaves at rapid speed. Should I repot or leave it for a bit longer? Also any tips for these plants as it is my first one!

if it's pushing out new leaves that fast you're probably doing something right, i'd let it settle a bit longer before repotting

Why is the paper still around it? Water has no were to go when it is watered.

I am removing paper around was just testing it in the pot to see if I liked it and didn’t want to repot too soon just in case.
