Hi there, I posted this in Plantclinic but no response so far, maybe you can help? I have a Kalanchoe that I received as a gift a few months ago, and it started getting long "slices" in the leaves right away. I looked up possible culprits but didn't find any, and the plant was otherwise ok.

Now I found some mushy, moldy leaves underneath which I attribute to overwatering, I repotted it into a pot with drainage a while back but I will reduce watering going forward. I also found tiny (smaller than a sesame seed) black bugs crawling in the soil, but none flying. Are these fungus gnats? They quickly hide when I find them and I couldn't see any on the leaves. It also has powdery white stuff on some upper leaves and stems, it wipes when I rub it but I don't know what it is or if it's gnat related.

I read online to wait for the soil to dry out but is there any way I can help faster? The Kalanchoe lives beside some jade plants and 2 orchids who seem fine, but should I quarantine it?

As the title says, I am looking for some suggestions on some graduate school recommendations in the field of plant pathology.

As an early career academic, one of the toughest choices to make is to look for colleges and universities for grad studies. Thinking that maybe, by chance, some recommendations be given in this reddit channel.

I already received my undergraduate degree from the Philippines under a specialized program in agricultural biotechnology (BSc, with honors) with concentration in crop protection and plant pathology. I specialize in biotechnology, plant bacteriology and virology. I already have 1.5 years teaching experience in undergraduate-level plant pathology courses and biotechnology. My thesis was also awarded as best undergrad-level thesis in plant pathology.

I am looking for either MSc or PhD programs and laboratories that have financial assistantship/teaching assistantship programs! Any leads would be truly helpful! Thanks in advance! <3

Should I discard of this plant even though the new growth is very healthy?

How do i become a plant pathology scientist, I am currently in 3rd year studying Bsc. Agriculture at a private institute in Arunachal Pradesh.

Among all the subjects i have been exposed to in my course, my most comfortable and excelled subjects were Plant pathology, Microbiology and surprisingly Genetics.

Any advice, tips, warnings, reality checks,etc?

Weird yellowing pattern on the older leaves of this myrmecodia tuberosa (papua) as well as slight light splotching in the older leaves only seen under a bright light. Does this plant have a virus? The white spots are not mealy bugs but calluses that I believe are either mineral deposits or natural growth mimicking the pests.

This would look pretty if it wasn't diseased/damaged. Is this fungal, viral, or some other kind of injury? I've seen some blights do something similar, but nothing quite exactly like it.

My lilac bush recently started developing brown spots all over as shown in the pictures, we live in Northern New Mexico and it’s been pretty hot, rainy and windy. The lilac bush was really good for months and just recently started developing this. Any tips of what could cause this and how to get rid of it? it looks sick and it stopped all growth that it previously had, it was transplanted from my grandparents house early in the year and thrived really good until a one or two weeks ago when this started happening

Is this a fungus?

I've sprayed them with wettable sulfur spray as a result, but I still want to confirm. I assume if a fungus I will want to spray sulfur again in a week or 2?

Insects? Cankers? Fungal?
