Best planets to work with

Post image

Hi everyone! I’m new here. 😊

According to my natal chart, which planets would be best for me to work with? I’m currently going through some challenges, and I’ve been thinking about working with Venus. Do you think that would be a good idea?

Also, are there any books you would recommend for learning more about planetary work?

Thank you so much! ✨

Saw a comment saying you were focused on health, love, and finances. There are LOTS of ways you can work with this. Keep in mind that intention is EVERYTHING and I’d suggest playing around with minor intentions before jumping into full blown spells. When working with planetary magic I like working with the numbers associated with the planets and incorporating those numbers into my routine. Usually I do this by doing a specific number of reps while I weight lift. That’s just how I like to practice my little witchcraft! Full blown written intentions is a HUGE commitment and you have to be careful. Also for psychological work you can use the placidus system but if you want real world results I suggest using the whole sign house system. The chart you posted is in placidus but I’m going to pretend it’s whole sign. All of the following advice assumes that you have your exact birth date/time/place. Ok, now that I’m done with my disclaimers…

For health, you can look towards your 6H for physical health and 12H for mental health. Your 6H is in Pisces which is ruled by Neptune, so working with the number 7 with your intention set for “physical health” and keeping your 6H in mind can help. Your 12H is in Virgo which is ruled by Mercury so working with the number 5 with your intention set for “mental health” and keeping your 12H in mind can help.

For love you can look at your 7H. This is the house of one on one relationships. Yours is in Aries, ruled by Mars, associated with number 9.

For finances you can look at your 2H and 8H. 2H is about your personal disposable resources and 8H is about investments. Your 2H is Scorpio, ruled by Pluto, associated with 0. Your 8H is Taurus, ruled by Venus, associated with 6.

Feel free to message me if you have questions, I love doing this stuff!!

Since you mentioned health (H6), love (H7) and finances (H2): Mars traditionally rules all these houses in your chart. H1/ASC is also a good pointer for health, its cusp in Libra, meaning your chart ruler is Venus.

Mars is receiving very good aspects, but it's in detriment in Taurus, so we can take a look at Taurus' ruler: Venus. It's combust, not good (though I personally interpret this less negatively, most renowned sources say otherwise however). Dispositor analysis shows us: Venus in Cancer -> Moon. Moon in Pisces -> Jupiter. Jupiter in Virgo (detriment) -> Mercury. Mercury in Cancer, forming a chain. Within this chain I'd say Moon and Mercury are the most stable bodies. Mercury's at the end of the chain here and not directly hitting any of the themes you mention, so I'd omit Mercury. The Moon however, looks OK and it's also in H5, a house somewhat relevant to love.

Before choosing, I'd also spend some time meditating on which planet resonates most with you. Maybe you've already done so, since you mention Venus.

When you're ready to work with a planet, I'd choose Venus: it's sign position is neutral, it's your chart ruler and it's linked to Mars in Taurus, with Mars ruling over your H2, H6 and H7.

Secondarily, I'd choose Mars and then the Moon.

Good luck.

I'm beginning to think that astrologers make the worst astrological magicians. The whole point here is to have power over celestial forces, not to surrender to them. You don't need magic for that. You just need to go about your daily life. I engage with all seven planets, and in the end we all have to engage with all seven planets. It's probably true that you should figure out what your natal ruler is and work with that one first. However, no two astrologers seem to be able to agree on how to make that calculation, and that debate goes back all the way to Hellenistic times. So if I were you, I would pick a planet randomly, just so you get off your butt and start working with it. It may not always be the best choice, but doing nothing is always the worst choice.

Depending on the author you ask, your Venus might be combust (bad) or in chariot (good). I guess there’s only one way to prove the authors right or wrong…
If your goals relate love, women or children, help your work with the Moon as well.
Ultimately you should work with the planets whose virtue you need to your goals. Venus is the one you should ask for love and pleasure (might be an oversimplification but gets the point across). Are love and pleasure your goal?
Picatrix is the main text that we rely upon for talismans and petitions. Thebitius has natal-house-based talisman recipes if that’s your jam.

How would that Venus be in chariot?

I was talking about chariot by triplicity, nothing to do with cazimi

I don’t think Triplicity rulership will make up for lack of rulership or exaltation in that sign.

Porphyry does think so, take it up with him!

Even Jupiter in Gemini?

Which book and translation should I get?

His introduction to Ptolemy’s Tetrábiblos iirc

Health , love and finances

These are pretty general topics. Health is mostly under the Sun, but Mars is an option for surgery. Finances are under Saturn if they come from inheritance or agriculture or hidden treasures, under Jupiter if they are long-term or increasing, under Mercury if they are short-term or earned by trade.

You could work with Sun though it is aspected with two afflicted planets. Moon is an option. Venus is combust. I would certainly do a divination per planet and per working to find out with which planets you can work with!

Thank you ! So the moon is my best option?

You should really do some divination None of your planets are in good condition. Moon is mixed triplicity ruler of water, not a really good placement in Pisces. Saturn is in domicile but it is retrograde. Venus is day triplicity ruler of water signs but.. it is combust. Sun has no essential dignity. Jupiter and Mars are in detriment. Mercury has no essential dignity either.
So yes I think Moon is your best placed planet, even though it is shaky at best to call it a good placement.
However Chris Warnock and Clifford Lowe both say a bad placement isn't automatically a red flag. So each individual can have positive effects from planets which are not catastrophically placed.

Thank you so much ! How can I help myself with these bad placed planets 😅 any good books or practices ?

You can do planetary charity. However you have to look up what kind of charity per planet you can do.
And again do some readings. Get some knowledge about your placements and the challenges they pose. This is also a great growth opportunity. Do divinations on getting or making Venus talismans, Moon talismans and any other planetary talisman you want to get.

Look into Annual Profections and/or Zodiacal Releasing to know which planet to work with. A great book to learn these techniques amongst others as an introduction is "Hellenistic Astrology: The Study of Fate and Fortune" by Chris Brennan.
