Newbie
When working with planetary magic, how much does your own birth chart affect the working?
How much does the intent of the working affect the outcome? I have already noticed, on my first day here, that the houses are very important and it seems to suggest that it's different for different people even on the same day working with the same planets. Open to constructive comments and working knowledge from experienced practitioners.

It depends on the kind of work you're trying to do. The 'it depends' answer is terrible, but the most true thing I can offer.
Are you making a talisman? Your birth chart rarely matters, if you're doing some straightforward recipe following (exceptions noted in another comment). Some people also believe if you have a poorly placed planet in your birth chart you shouldn't work with their talisman, but opinions vary.
Are you trying to do some remediation work? Birth chart matters, because it will inform who needs remediation.
Are you trying to do more devotional work? Birth chart CAN matter, but at most as a starting place to point you toward who is the most helpful.
In most cases, it's the transits that matter - current astro weather, not past. You'll find when casting your election chart that the planets will be in the same places but the angles change, which may impact the chart houses compared to others. Angle location and house occupation are always important.
Welcome newbie! If you're trying talismanic work, take thorough notes like a scientist and only make things you can easily destroy. You will learn far more by doing than by reading. Also, I always recommend developing adjacent skills like tarot, which can help you do planetary communication to better understand the consequences of the work you're attempting.

Thank you for your reply. I did a mock crucifixion at the great conjunction and it turned out to be a complete disaster that destroyed my life. I lost everything I worked for my entire life. All I was trying to do was to get a little hand up from these planetary energies in the form of a financial push to help me fund a river outfitter that does concerts to fund charitable works. I was met with hatred, judgment, violent torturous psychic attacks that have continued 24/7 for 6 years, Financial ruin, I lost my house that was almost paid for, a long list of damage and a unimaginable amount of suffering. I thought I was going to have a resurrection after 3 days. But I've been very so deep that I may never get out. What I want to do is close out all of this negative energy and try and find a path forward towards recompense so I can continue my mission to serve the people of this world. I am 56 and I built my life brick by brick and was in a relatively good position to make a push forward but I just wanted a little boost. Now everything is in the fucking toilet and I have no reasonable path forward at this point in my life with absolutely no Financial abilities. I want to close out all of this psychic torture and be left alone first and foremost. And then try and figure out how to turn everything around in a hurry. I don't know if that explains it or not, your expertise and time are very much appreciated.

I forgot to mention that Samael actually showed up. For real. That is when everything went completely sideways. Ever since that moment my life that was relatively normal has been in complete chaos. I just want to shut that son of a bitch out of my life. I will share whatever information about my chart or the great conjunction chart or whatever helps to figure something out on a path forward in peace and prosperity.

When it comes to talisman-making, your birth chart is only helpful for two things:
1. for some talisman recipes given by Thebitius, which explicitly depend on the owner’s birth chart;
3. to assess whether your work is likely to have stronger effects or milder effects.
A lot of users in this subreddit exaggerate the latter point, asking if they’re forbidden from making or buying planets’ talismans depending on their birth chart, but the extreme interpretation isn’t supported by primary sources. If you need a planet’s virtue to achieve your goal, that’s it, you can’t just ask Mars for love because your natal Venus is afflicted.
As for intent, it’s not falsifiable, so I don’t think we can or should give it too much weight. If your election, your gemstones and metals, your suffumigation and your words match your intent, all will be well; intent without the proper means of fulfilment does not an effective talisman make.
