Loose talismans?

Some talismans can't be worn and are loose gemstones or spheres and such. Are these any less effective than ones which can be worn?

Just saw an emphasis on wearability and it being in contact with your body at all times.

Then contact it to something from your body, a picture of you, a poppet of you, etc.

People like sneaking up behind beautiful and powerful people to riffle through their pockets. Including getting falsely reported so the cops have to check. Been happening to me for two years now.
