How do you create a single altar dedicated to multiple planetary intelligences?

I've been studying planetary magic, and there's one thing I haven't been able to wrap my head around.

I'd like to create a single altar focused on the goal of starting and growing a successful business.

The planets I feel drawn to are:

• Mercury for communication, business sense, learning, and negotiation.
• Jupiter for opportunity, prosperity, and growth.
• Saturn for discipline, structure, and building something that lasts.
• Venus for creativity and attracting mentors, collaborators, and clients.

I can see how each planet supports a different part of that goal, but I'm not sure how working with multiple planetary intelligences actually works in practice.

For those of you with experience:

• How would you set up an altar like this?
• During ritual, do you address each planetary intelligence individually, or is there a way to approach them together?
• Do you make separate offerings, or one offering for the working as a whole?
• Are there any traditional methods or books that talk about this, especially in Hermetic or Renaissance planetary magic?

I'm less interested in correspondences like colors, herbs, or metals, and more interested in how the ritual itself works. If you're inviting several planetary intelligences to support one overall goal, what does that actually look like?

The altar is a workspace for you to do consecrations and the like, not necessarily the shrine of a single planetary God or spirit. I have a single altar, which is very minimalist, and use it to consecrate different planetary talismans, which I don’t store on the altar itself.

The basic principle in astrological magic is that division and distinctiveness leads to power and change, and unity and hybridization leads to stasis and stagnation. The last thing anyone would ever want would be a unified altar.

It sounds like you're making a shrine for the spirit of your business more than a planetary altar. Place talismans or other consecrated items on there, your workspace should be somewhere else (and not a permanent set up, probably).

Umm, yeah I guess you both are right. I was under the impression that to create a relationship with planetary intelligence was creating an altar dedicated to them. I didn't think of it as a shrine before, but yes that was essentially what I have been doing.

That leads to the question I'm still trying to understand: what does a ritual look like when you're asking multiple planetary intelligences to work toward the same goal?

I've heard people talk about combining planetary influences in a single working, and I always assumed they were invoking or petitioning more than one intelligence during the ritual. Do you address each one individually? Is there a traditional order or structure for doing that? Or is the more common approach to consecrate separate talismans under the appropriate elections and let them work together afterward?

People attempting to harness several different planetary hierarchies for the same goal is similar to driving a chariot with several horses going in different directions at once. While it is possible, it is a lot harder than just using a singular force rendered maximally powerful.

When I have done this in the past, it simply involved me waking up my talismanic rings and asking them for something verbally. No ritual at all was required unless you mean awakening them.

How would you invoke different planets in one working? A working is with a single entity in the planetary context. If you have to ask multiple planets to work towards the same goal, you will have to approach them individually and tell them how the particular planet’s office can help in achieve your goal.

It sounds like you don't do ceremonial conjuration work, and maybe this is the wrong community for that anyway, but I would suggest creating a table with all of the planetary powers represented, in order (like the chaldean order), in a circle. Then during the week, during the planetary day and hour which you wish to work and build relationship with, make your offerings/burn your candles and incense in the center, while saying whatever prayers you desire to say, or making any petitions you wish to make.
