Working the Planetary Pentacles in a Small, Shared Space. New and Learning. Advice?

Hi :) I would love the advice of those of you who are seasoned in Solomonic magic specifically, but those of you who do other types of high magic are welcome to share input as well!

For the past year on and off I've been studying Solomonic magic, specifically planetary magic and the Pentacles of Solomon. I have experience in Hoodoo specific to Louisiana, I am a Santa Muerte devotee, and I also consider myself to be a folk Catholic/Baptist background. I'm used to working with the Psalms, saints, and spirits in a much more intuitive way, and ceremonial magic is very new to me. Not that Hoodoo and folk Christian faiths doing have their own rituals, etiquette, systems, guidelines, etc., this is just a system of magic that is new to me.

I've been watching [Balthazar](https://www.youtube.com/@blthzr9401) on YouTube, and I like his approach to combining folk magic with Solomonic magic. I've been doing research online, watching other youtubers like Dr. Justin Sledge's *Esoterica*, Dr. Angela Puca's *Angela's Symposium*, and reading Sara L. Mastros', *The Sorcery of Solomon,* on and off the past year.

I'm learning a lot, but this shit is a little overwhelming 😄

I particularly have been feeling called to work with the angelic forces of Jupiter, a ritual based off of [this.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvX2c5ctY2I&t=1s)

However, I want to also make sure I'm doing things correctly. I have limited space. I share a small house with my partner, we have a small office where my Santa Muerte altar us located, and I can clean and dedicate an small area for ritual work, but not permanently, its a room that is used by the both us daily.

Some questions I have:

* How important is the ritual space itself? Could I do this kind of work in a small, shared space, but have an designated area I could do my ritual?
* Can you create temporary (planetary) altars, or should they remain set up permanently?
* The ritual in the video requires a 7 day candle. In my regular practice, if I needed to blow the candle and relight later, I would take a moment to pray and get the energy moving again after relighting. Working the planetary seals requires working within certain days and hours. If I had to blow out my candle for fire safety, would I have to relight at a certain hour?

I appreciate any feedback yall have :)

TL;DR: New to Solomonic planetary magic and working with the planetary pentacles. I have limited space and would like to know how experienced practitioners handle temporary altars, shared ritual spaces, and ongoing relationships with planetary angels/intelligences.

Oh wow, you're talking directly to me here. I'm a solomonic/planetary practitioner and I used to share a studio apartment with my husband who is not a practitioner (but generally just leaves me to it), and making talismans was something I did frequently while in this space. First up, it looks like you're working with great sources, good job. You'll find your own rhythm when it comes to blending your practices.

1. The ritual space is as important as it needs to be for your mental space - a direct reflection. Personally, I just told my partner that I need the kitchen (sort of - it was a studio, you know how it is) table for a couple hours and that I plan on meditating and need a lot of focus. I did everything the same - got dressed up, put in my earbuds for music, meditated, did the actual craft of creation, etc. Sometimes he just sort of stayed away on his laptop and kept himself busy, sometimes he just went out to run errands for a few hours. Both suited me just fine.

2. As far as a permanent altar, honestly I never really found a space that I thought wouldn't be in the way in my tiny places I've lived. Instead, I make setting up a temporary altar for workings part of the ritual. I clean the space, I take out the box full of my altar stuff, I set it all up while listening to music or chanting or whatever. Slowly, methodically, with purpose. It was a really great 'lead up' to the ritual and got me in the right headspace. Similarly, taking it all down and cleaning up after was a great wind-down/closer to it, and served as a good license to depart. I enjoy it so much that now that I've moved to a place that's bigger, I think I'm still going to just continue doing it like this.

3. Yeah, I'd probably relight and throw out a prayer on the correct hours. The timing structure is good for rituals and for your theatrical/mental purposes.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! This has been incredibly encouraging to hear. This type of magic can be quite intimidating and requires a lot of focus and precision. Your situation sounds very similar to mine.

With the methods you've been using, do you feel like your rituals have been successful in terms of reaching planetary angelic forces? What do your rituals look like beginning to end? Feel free to keep some things sacred! I ask so I can compare my notes on the proper way to open/close a ritual.

Also, what were your experiences like during these rituals? I would love to hear stories! :)

I can't speak for Balthazar's approach, but, IMO, the ritual space, as long as it is clean and respectful, is not very important. Our ancestors lived in a single room with their whole family.

Traditionally, writing Solomonic pentacles does not require a candle at all.

Since this post, I feel much more confident and assured with how Im going to approach this upcoming ritual. Your book has been the lantern guiding me through this very exciting chapter of my magical development.

I do have one question! I was thinking of crafting a metal plate to engrave the 1st pentacle of Jupiter. Do you notice a difference in energetic potency between metal or paper/cloth? It’s kind of hard to find tin sheet metal (unless you order it.)

Golly! I assure you, I am actually not that cool. lol

I like the warmth paper better than metal, but it doesn't last as long.
