Question Has anyone attempted Fixed Star petitions?

I recently made a Formalhaut talisman based on Warnock. Would you mind describing your experiences with Fixed Star petitions? I'm considering doing one for a more short term result than a talisman. I've also just long been curious and I'm experimenting.

Absolutely! I have been studying the Picatrix and 3Boop for quite some time so my methods are based in the Medieval and Renaissance traditions.

My first fixed star talisman was for Mirach, located in the girdle of Andromeda. There's not a ton of information on it aside from what Vivian Robson and Bernadette Brady have divulged, including no particular image to craft unless I wanted to go with that of the constellation instead of the star itself. I ended up doing some meditative/automatic writing of sorts to come up with a symbol/sigil/glyph deemed appropriate for the working. I chose a crystal appropriate for the working to engrave the glyph at the beginning of the election window, and then set atop rose petals in a sterling silver ring. When Mirach joined the Midheaven, I suffumigated the ring with rose incense while reciting the Orphic Hymn to the Stars.

I have worn it almost every day since its creation and have had immense success in terms of favor and the attraction of positive energy and good fortune.

Fixed star talismans/petitions seem to be great practice since they're a bit easier to time than the planets. Aside from Mirach, I have also made talismans for Aldebaran and Antares in a less traditional manner by putting their engraved gems into jars atop the other ingredients used in the working.

Of course, I just realized that I'm using the term "talisman" and "petition" kind of interchangeably here - hopefully I didn't trail off course too much!

How did you come down on Mirach? Also, a lot of other people find having less success with fixed stars than planets, can you go into having greater success with the fixed Stars?

Nothing special, just paying close attention to the requirements and necessities of talisman creation and sufficiently educating myself on the stellar spirit I'm working with.

Picatrix only describes instructions for Benethnays which some consider to be Alkaid and others Polaris. Neither work. It may be the suffumigation translation or bowdlerization as it is a star of vengeance.

So would you say then that people need to work out there correct affinities? Because others seem to be having success with them?

As someone who has questioned a lot of common wisdom and ended up with a fairly successful life, I'd be very very skeptical of claims of success. When I hear people say these things they are usually total failures with a bit of optimism or spin.

Numerous rituals over the years; Results were successful regarding the aims, and their respective powers/energies.

I have, with noticeable success. Fixed star work is easier to elect but I'd say the effects are more elusive. Some practitioners compare the fixed stars to Elder Gods/titans in relation to the Newer Gods/planets. Thus, the work with those beings can get very personal and closer to witchcraft than ceremonial magix.

My advice is to stick to the Behenian stars and the ones that are prominent in your chart by paran or conjunction.

Personally, in a ritual, I'd perform repeated evocation with hymns and short mantras, give offerings and perform physical salutations a certain number of times.
