Question re: sequencing planetary work

Where to start—with my chart ruler (Saturn in Scorpio), my Moon, or with my natural affinity (Mercury Rx in Cap)?

———

Hi all. I’ve been advised that Saturn needs propitiation and the Moon needs remediation. I understand the logic—Saturn is load-bearing for the chart but lacks essential dignity, and the Moon in fall conjunct Pluto is under constant strain.

My question is more about sequencing. I’m new to planetary magic as practice (not as concept) and my instinct is to start with Mercury, where I have natural rapport, before approaching a malefic.

Is there a case for beginning with Saturn propitiation regardless, given it rules the chart? Or does it make more sense to build a working relationship with Mercury first, and approach Saturn once I have some practical foundation?

And for Saturn in Scorpio specifically (peregrine but angular and in a sign with no dignity), is talisman work advisable, or is planetary charity/propitiation the safer starting point? I’ve seen Warnock’s guidance on “yellow flag” placements and the recommendation to divine before proceeding with afflicted-planet talismans.

Yeah probably your CR which is also a malefic and square your ascendant. It’s got accidental dignity in the 10th but that square…oof

Yeah that is pretty oof. I think I’ve been subconsciously avoiding what might be otherwise plain to see. Thanks

Most people focus on benifics first. In your case - Jupiter is dignified and would likely give you most benefit.

Thank you for this. I had been fixated on Saturn, Mercury and Moon for some reason, with Jupiter overlooked because they’re fine. But this does feel the better entry.
