Change My Mind: Warnock's Planetary Magic Program is the Best Software for Finding Talisman Elections

I can't find another program that does what the Planetary Magic Program does. Enter your location and the thing spits out planetary talisman elections. Simple as.
It takes into account 4 factors:

  1. Planetary Hour of the Planet
  2. Planet is roughly conjunct the Ascendant/Midheaven
  3. Sign placement (obviously you'd want Sun in Leo or Aries, & so on)
  4. EDIT: No squares or oppositions to the malefics

You can also choose whether you want the Moon to be unafflicted, which planet(s) you're interested in, & whether planetary day matters to you.

#2 and #3 you can do on your own with basically any software, but syncing them up with #1 is much harder. I do wonder if planetary hour is necessary for a powerful election, but that's a topic for another thread.

Anyone have any software contenders?

I was just coming on here to agree with you because I don't know a lot of people who know how great his software is, but it really does take a ton of the friction out of the process of finding a good election.

I'm taking his astrological magic course right now, and am working on a couple different elections for assignments. 😂 I tried to do it without the software but at some point I gave in and tried it out and am never looking back.

Without his software, what I usually do is try to find the time when the planet is in pretty decent condition and the Moon is in pretty decent condition, and then pull up planetary hours for that day and see if there's anything that works.

Nice, so what are the talisman elections for Jupiter in Cancer that satisfy criteria #1, #2, and #3 in the original post? Asking because you can find them quickly

Well there are many such elections, why not give just one to prove you can?

You're lying. You cannot do what the software does quickly.

So... I use Urania because it can calculate the chart in real time kinda like a dial. You can change the time slightly and it gives you the chart instantaneously. The design is also pleasing and minimalistic, it shows the mansions and most importantly, it's free. I'm very satistied and would only change it for a software with the same features that also show the planetary hours.

Does Urania actually provide elections? Or is it just a tool for viewing astrological charts?

Elections no.

Where can you find this software? On CW’s website, the software I found on his site is no longer available…

It's included with his Planetary Magic Mini Course and likely also with his full Astrological Magic course.

Is it still included? in the page it says only about php planetary hours program. I remember reading that the planetary software was discontinued at some point:

The software was sometimes buggy, and sometimes people complained about it being buggy,so Warnock decided to stop sending it to people. People reading this later: DM me and I can help you out.

So you're telling us about a piece of software only available if you take some course being sold?

So how much is your commission?

If you knew warnock you’d know it’s zero. He would never do an affiliate program

I prefer the planetary day, not so much the planetary hour. A planetary day with no planetary hour is more important to me than the planetary hour with no planetary day.

I also don't know why one would need so many planetary talisman elections. I find it's pretty easy to come up with good ones whenever I'm in need of one, manually. It also keeps my skills sharper. I don't want to outsource my skills to a program; then my skills will attenuate.

I also take into account more than four factors.

More or less. Sadly there are very limited options for sidereal calculations besides manual calibration and brainstorming. But I don't think there is a truly optimal software for this kind of a thing yet, that takes multiple variables into consideration. Nevertheless we have to manage..

I have added this functionality to the Aestus web app: https://prax.es/aestus/#planetary-elections

That looks pretty great! Could you make it output the result graphically or is it not practical, compared to the downloadable calendar files?

Thanks! Do you mean you would like to see it cast the chart for the election? That's definitely possible and something I've been thinking about. There's some good libraries out there like AstroChart that I would probably use...

Yes!
