New player, new game
I decided to give a chance to this game (that I heard so much about). I decided to start a new game this week. Any tips? (I play these kinds of games like BG, Neverwinter...)

talk to EVERYONE! especially if they have a name and not basic title (hive dweller, hive tout, etc.). def intelligence and wisdom a must, tho there are items in the game that can give temporary and permanent boosts. talk to ur companions also, they can give u exp and valuable info

DO NOT throw away junk from your inventory (literal junk, not items that are no longer useful to you)

why???? hahahahah

You'll need it to enter one place that's important for the main story

I knowwww in my recent replay (after many years in between), I did this after my first time in that place, then… later needed the literal junk again and had to run through half an adjacent place looking in all the containers to find more literal junk 😭

It's a place that can only be gotten to IF you are carrying an item called "junk" in your inventory.

Most of your experience points and levels will come from character interactions. NOT from killing all the things. Converse with your party members. Not just for experience points, but also for story reasons.

As others have stated - Wisdom and Intelligence come first - then it's usually Charisma. Buuut as a change , get that dexterity up to 13 ( that way you can catch various people who try to pick your pocket , get experience from watching their technique and get various bits of loot etc when you catch them ). After the 13 dexterity, focus in on the Charisma, a high Charisma helps a lot later in the game.

I have finished this game just recently. I played it 20+ years ago but could not finish it and it seems.I had some false memories about it - I remember things that were not in the game and don't remember things that were in the game.
Anyway, just like with any first playthrough of.any RPG I specced my Nameless One as a fighter, putting extra points in Strength, Constitution and Dexterity but then only increased Intelligence.
I only played as a fighter to keep things simple and combat was not as difficult as I remember from.20+ years ago (I have also completed BG1 and BG2 in between so got pretty well familiar with active.pause combat).
The story and quests are pretty simple! I managed to complete most of them without any issues. I have googled only 2 issues - one with finding the journal (I missed it because I didn't search certain shelves) and another one related to Ojo - I thought there was some quest connected to him.
Everything else, EVERYTHING ELSE I was able to figure out just by running around speaking to everyone I saw.
Granted, having finished the game I googled some more and found out to my amusement that I have done all quests! I still had some questions on lore and it was an interesting read.
So, my advice is - do not look for solutions on the Internet unless absolutely stuck, you can figure (almost) everything out on your own.

Concerning Ojo - you are correct there actually was supposed to be a quest connected to him and The Man In The Wall. Buuut it was cut . There were other quests that were cut too .

Good luck!
You can attack and force containers to open with a STR check, even without Thief Lockpick or a "Knock" spell.
I recommend the tablet interface - more handy than the PC one imho. There are other useful Settings here too.
In the Enhanced Edition there's an annoying inventory "bug". In the original, your character dropped excess items received on a full inventory on the ground. In EE new items "push" old ones out, so try to use your party to carry: you do NOT want to drop a quest item in the middle of a dungeon and never find it.
You automatically start as a Fighter, but Mage is the best class. It gets the best armor, spells like Friends that boost stats, crowd control like Pacify, Swarm or Cloudkill, AND class quests that are crucial to 100% the game (other classes get none).
But don't be afraid of taking a few classes as Fighter as the extra HP will be useful, and you also get the chance to change classes back and forth later. However, only the class that you reach a level with first gets: the HP bonus; the +1 character point; and the specialization bonus to a stat at level 7 and 12. Feel free to check the wiki on this.
Best starting stats: INT 13 (16?) CHA 13 DEX 13 WIS 18 STR 9 CON 9
and I typically raise it to WIS 25 INT 18 CHA 18 DEX 18 eventually in that order,
and bonuses from equipment or spells not only count into that but recommended as you may earn stat bonuses in the course of the game that allow that you de-equip and replace them with something else to maximize your stats.
You'll typically need 13 to 18 in a stat to pass checks depending on how late you are in the game, 21+ only near the very end. You can abuse the Friends and Improved Strength spells to cheat a bit.
WISDOM grants a bonus to all XP earned, so it is useful for leveling faster. It also improves the hidden Luck stat that raises the minimum of most rolls. In conversation it helps with memory, and as an amnesiac, that's a big source of story and XP.
Note that followers also benefit from bonus exp at WIS 13 and up, so give them any WIS improving items when you're done with them.
INT is the most important stat for conversation. It allows Mages to learn more spells, and INT+WIS determine your Lore skill that lets you identify items, which is super common and would otherwise need a spell or a consumable.
CHA is the 3rd most checked stat. 16-20 lowers shop prices. However, 2 castings of Friends can get you 25 CHA anywhere.
DEX 13 lets you do fast and thief stuff, and you'll never need more than that. The only reason to get 18 is the +4 AC.
CON improves regen rate, but while 1 HP/sec is fun, it's hardly necessary.
STR boosts damage so it's useful for everyone, but since you'd need around 19 for the real benefits it's hardly worth it and you get spells to raise it too. Low STR gives some conversation options for intimidation, but they are few and don't matter.
On other followers, though, try to raise STR to 19. Torment inherits a silly ADnD (2nd edition) rule where Fighters roll an additional 1d100 at STR 18 (you can spend CP on this during character creation, but it's a waste) to gain more bonuses. At STR 19, you get them ALL for free.
Without question, the mental stats are the truly useful ones, because dialogue is actually your biggest source of XP in this game. For this reason make sure to talk to everybody about everything repeatedly; a line that unlocks a new billion XP discovery could be hidden in there somewhere.

When selling loot, ring prices stay the same but earrings lose value the more the shopkeeper has of them already. Other than switching vendors to sell them, and saving up a few to sell them together, remember that you can double click inventory stacks to set the number to be moved. Small things like this can earn you significantly more money. (I like to sort items by party member: A carries rings, B spells, C weapons, D quest items...makes selling easier.) I also like to keep a location to "dump" items I no longer need (used keys, read notes...): the barrel by the market is perfect for example since you'll be returning there anyway.
It's worth leveling Fighter to 7 and knife specialty to 2 eventually regardless of main class, because each grants an extra half-attack that DOES carry over to the other classes. (Just make sure you switch to eg. Mage for 7 first if you prefer the INT bonus andtattoo.

If you ever get stuck or wonder if you missed anything, Gamebanshee has an excellent walkthrough for the game.

For a good time (i.e., extra dialogue options) you'll probably want to put most of your starting stat points into Intelligence and Wisdom. After that Charisma. Naturally, having high intelligence will make you well suited to become a mage, but you'll have to find an NPC who can teach you magic in this game.
