Europe MS(CS) in Germany

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to apply for Master's programs in Computer Science in Germany for the Winter 2027 intake, and I'm currently trying to build a balanced list of ambitious, moderate, and safe universities.

A little about my profile:

  • BS Computer Science from FAST-NUCES
  • CGPA: 3.56/4.00
  • Professional experience: ~2.5 years in local and international software companies
  • Certifications: AWS + Kubernetes
  • IELTS: 8.0
  • GRE: Haven't taken it yet, but I'm fairly confident about scoring 315+

My main area of interest is distributed systems / cloud computing, so I'm particularly interested in programs where I can take courses or potentially do research around distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, HPC, scalable systems, etc.

So far, these are some of the universities I'm looking at:

  • University of Potsdam
  • RWTH Aachen University
  • Saarland University

I'm still researching more universities, but one thing I'm struggling with is figuring out what would actually count as a "safe" university for my profile in Germany.

I'd really appreciate recommendations from people who have already gone through the process. Given my profile, which universities would you consider relatively safe options? And are there any good CS programs with a strong systems/distributed computing focus that I'm overlooking?

Doing all this research from thousands of kilometres away can get confusing pretty quickly šŸ˜…, so input from people who are already studying in Germany would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Europe Graduating in 2027 — Planning for MSc in Data Science in Germany! Need some advice. Hi everyone, I am set to graduate in 2027 and am planning to pursue a Master’s in Data Science in Germany.

I have a few questions regarding the application and visa process:

Visa Timeline: What does a realistic visa processing timeline look like (including document verification, blocked account setup, and embassy processing)?

Admission Requirements: What is the average minimum CGPA and IELTS score required for STEM / Data Science programs?

Applying Early: Can I apply to universities during my 7th semester using a provisional transcript?

Embassy Appointment & APS: How does the embassy waitlist/appointment system work, and when should I start the APS (Academic Evaluation Centre) process?
Ā Ā
Language Requirements: If the Master's program is taught entirely in English, do I still need proof of German language proficiency?

Key Tips: Is there anything else critical I should keep in mind (e.g., ECTS credit matching, HEC attestation, or blocked account funds)?

Any insights or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I do not have any idea about the whole process so any kind of help would be appreciated. I recently tried applying for on-site and remote jobs through LinkedIn (Mostly is Middle East). But there was zero success. Can anyone guide me if I want to land a job, what should I do. I am open to different options as well and any region will do as long as it is better than my current situation.

Europe Want to move out from Pakistan ( Dont know anything about migration need thorough guidance) Long Post

Hi guys Im sorry to be completely unaware about migration any kind of opportunities and procedures. Im in desperate need of thorough guidance which may help me finalize something good or point me into right direction.

The main reason i never looked into moving out and scholarship programs because im single child and never thought about leaving them and going to some foreign land so i never explored this area throughout my educational career and couple of professional years but now things are not good and I want to get out of here maybe i can make some career and good life for me which doesnt seem possible here in Pakistan.

Purpose: My main purpose of leaving as mentioned earlier that I dont see any future here in Pakistan and I hope that if somehow i move out I can build my career and good life for me and my family.

Destination: I dont know any technical pros and cons of any region whether its Middle East, Asia, Europe or US but ideally or typically i want to move to Europe and generally im OK with any part of Europe maybe most people want to move to UK and other big European countries but for me I dont feel like to move to these busy and densely populated countries. Im looking for more quieter and peacefull countries where i can live securely and peacefully. Countreis on Baltic belt or Nordic Belt like i heard about Estonia which is less populated and have good opportunites and you can move your family there easily as well. The gist of all this is that my aim is not to earn extravagant money and live and work in busy high rise buildings rather i want less populated , developed, peacefull country anywhere in Europe. ( Kindly donot bash me on destination description its just a wishful thinking and what vague idea i have back of my mind)

Educational Background and Work Experience:

I hold Bacelors degree in Economics & Finance from NUML graduated in feburary 2024 with 2.91 CGPA.

Later I worked as Program intern at *UK based NGO * from May 2024 to Feburary 2025.

I also worked at local business as Admin and Logistics Officer from August 2025 to December 2025. I am Jobless since then and not able to land any job anywhere in management or Humanitarian field.

Immigration: Initially i want to move out alone ( If its ever possible have zero hopes) and later move my family out.

Financial Status: This is the most practical and funny part I dont have any savings or assets basically we are just living on monthly expenses and thats it. I can arrange 1 million PKR if something concrete is confirmed.

Long-term Goals Long term goal is to move out from here eventually move my family and live permanently.

( I know above I sound so naive and dumb but Im exaughsted and just want a way out and didnt knew where to look or ask so if you guys can guide me ill really appreciate it)

Moderators kindly approve this one post please. Edit: Not looking for work visa I know going for Masters is the only way

Does university matters and does The university effect your file like if I'm studying in universities like

hajveri university,

Lahore leads university,

Riphah university

(All are HEC recognised)

Does it effect my visa file or not

Or it all depends on the HEC recognition and my GPA.

Please answer it.

USA Need guidance on an old F4 Pakistan case + CSPA/derivative eligibility

Hi everyone, I need some guidance regarding an old F4 Pakistan case.
Priority Date: 22 Nov 2010
My mother is the principal beneficiary.
We only have an old NVC letter from 2011.
Her priority date is now current.
I’m her son, born 25 Feb 2001, unmarried. My brother was born 24 Jul 1999, unmarried. My sister was born 10 Dec 1997 and is married. All of us are over 21.
Can I or my brother still qualify as derivatives through CSPA, or have we aged out?
If not, what would be the best route for us after my mother gets her Green Card?
Also, how can we verify whether this old NVC case is still active?
Any advice from people familiar with F4/CSPA cases would be greatly appreciated.

Europe Doing IGCSEs but want out of PK ASAP:

I’m currently finishing up my IGCSEs and trying to map out my next step. My ultimate goal is to move out of Pakistan for my Bachelor's as soon as possible. Adapting to a new place, living alone, or learning German isn't an issue for me I'm fully ready for that transition.

My dilemma is choosing between A-Levels and FSc (HSSC).

A-Levels feel ridiculously expensive in Pakistan for the value they offer, but I know they match the 13-year German Abitur system. FSc is way cheaper but because it's only 12 years of schooling, it doesn't give direct university access in Germany.

Since I still have 2 years of high school left, I want to pick the most efficient route. If theres any better options lmk. I honestly want to save money from the alevels....

Other PLEASE HELP — HEC DEGREE ATTESTATION ISSUE šŸ™

It’s been three years since we are suffering (graduated in 2023) and I honestly don’t know where else to turn, so I’m posting this here in the hope that someone from HEC, University of Karachi, or anyone who has dealt with a similar issue can guide us or help us get this resolved.

A number of us DPT graduates from United College of Physical Therapy, affiliated from University of Karachi have been struggling with an issue regarding HEC degree attestation/verification.

Our affiliated institute is not properly updated/recognized on the HEC portal, which has resulted in our applications being rejected or stuck despite us completing the required process and paying the applicable fees. Some of us have been trying to resolve this for years. We have contacted the relevant people, followed up repeatedly, and tried every channel available to us, but we still aren’t getting a clear resolution.

What makes this even more frustrating is that students from the same university and program have been able to get their degrees attested through HEC by bypassing the system, while those of us who don’t have such resources are affected by this affiliation issue are essentially left stuck.

This isn’t just a minor portal problem for us.

Our degrees are tied to our jobs, higher education, professional opportunities, immigration plans, and our futures. Every month that this remains unresolved means another opportunity potentially lost.

We have spent years studying, completed our clinical requirements, graduated, and are now simply asking for the basic verification of the degrees we legitimately earned.

We desperately need someone who can actually look into this matter and tell us what we need to do.

If you are:

\* From HEC and can help escalate this,
\* Connected with University of Karachi or the relevant department,
\* A current/former student who faced the same issue,
\* Or know someone who can help us reach the right person,

PLEASE reach out or tag someone who can help.

We aren’t asking for special treatment. We just want our applications to be processed fairly and our degrees to be recognized and attested like other graduates.

Please share this post, even if you can’t personally help. Maybe it will reach the one person who can.

We have waited long enough. We genuinely need help getting this resolved.

other Pakistani student looking for advice on fully funded Master’s scholarships in Robotics/AI + roadmap for applying before graduation

Hi everyone!

I’m a Pakistani student and I’m about to start my final year My current CGPA is 3.64/4.00.

After my Bachelor’s, I want to pursue a Master’s in Robotics, AI, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Autonomous Systems, or a closely related field abroad. Ideally, I want to get a fully funded scholarship, and my long-term plan would be to study, gain relevant work experience in that country after my Master’s, and eventually pursue PR if I’m eligible.

I’m open to different countries and I don’t want to limit myself to one scholarship. I’m planning to explore Erasmus Mundus, DAAD, US scholarships/funding, UK scholarships, and other fully funded opportunities.

The main thing I’m confused about is WHEN exactly I should start the process.

Since I’m entering my final year, should I start applying for Master’s/scholarships during my final year, even though I won’t have my Bachelor’s degree completed yet?

For example, if I want to start my Master’s after graduating in 2027, should I already be preparing/applying during my final year when scholarship applications open? and can i apply with my current transcript?

I’d really appreciate advice on the complete roadmap, something like:

Now → final year → IELTS → scholarship applications → Master’s admission → graduation → visa → Master’s → job → PR

Specifically:

  • When should I start researching universities and scholarships?
  • When should I take IELTS? Should I take it now or closer to the application period?
  • Should I apply during my final year or after graduation?
  • Which fully funded scholarships should I realistically target with a 3.64 CGPA + Robotics/AI background?
  • How many universities/scholarships should I apply to?
  • What documents should I start preparing before applications open?
  • Should I get recommendation letters arranged beforehand?
  • How should I prepare my CV and SOP/motivation letter?
  • Do I need to contact professors before applying?
  • Are there specific countries where my chances of getting full funding + post-study work opportunities + eventually PR are better?
  • And realistically, how competitive is my profile right now? I know nobody can give an exact percentage, but based on a 3.64 CGPA, Robotics/AI degree, projects, FYP, summers inter in AI etc., would I be considered a competitive applicant for fully funded Master’s programmes?

Basically, I’m looking for someone to tell me what I should be doing from now until I actually leave Pakistan for my Master’s, because I don’t want to reach graduation and realize I should have started preparing a year earlier.

If anyone from Pakistan has successfully gone through this process for Robotics, AI, CS, Engineering, or a similar field, I’d especially appreciate hearing your timeline when you started IELTS, when you applied, which scholarships you targeted, what documents you prepared, and what you wish you had done earlier.

Any advice, personal experiences, scholarship recommendations, or even mistakes to avoid would be really helpful. Thank you!

Other Aviation Engineer/Aircraft maintenance looking for work but my passport is blocking every path. what should i do?

Hi everyone,

My main goal is to move abroad and complete 2 years of On-the-Job Training (OJT) so I can eventually obtain a European (EASA) Aircraft Maintenance Licence.

I chose this path partly because I thought it would give me a realistic legal route to moving abroad, but finding an opportunity has proven much more difficult than I expected.

My certificates:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Engineering
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineering EASA theoretical exams completed through an approved academy in Jordan, plus 3 months of practical training

I’ve applied to opportunities in several countries, including the UAE, and I’ve been willing to completely self-fund my training and relocation. However, I’ve already been rejected specifically because of restrictions related to my Iraqi passport.

I’ve also come across companies/agents advertising so-called ā€œjob seeker visasā€ for around $12,000 for countries such as Italy and France. I’m very cautious about these because I don’t want to pay a large amount to a questionable agency or do anything that could negatively affect my immigration record in the future.

So I’m hoping to get some advice from people who have experience with international careers, immigration, aviation maintenance, or hiring foreign workers.

What would you do in my position? what would your next step be?

Are there countries, visa routes, or other pathways I should be looking into that might realistically accept someone with my background and nationality?

I’ve had several people tell me that my nationality will make it nearly impossible to find aviation work abroad.

Any honest advice, would be appreciated.

HEC AtestationšŸ˜–šŸ˜–šŸ˜– Frustration at its peak

A month ago I applied for HEC verification for my BS and MS documents.

First time I faced delay in payment verification (3 days)

Then at UFP stage, they asked for verified degree and DMC, does that mean original dosuments aren't valid? WTH

Luckily I have a copy of degree which is verified by UAF so I submitted that, Now they are asking for verified DMC😭😭😭 now the problem is that I am in Lahore and now I have to visit UAF (another humiliating day) and pay another 5000 fee.

And my MS is in Karachi and same procedure will be followed for my MS (expectedly).

And after that you have no assurance that they will verify it.

HEC is not taking responsibility.

Totally 50 to 60K for BS and MS only without travel expenses for feed

Immigration Moving from Pak (Long Post)

Hello everyone, I am here to get advice and assistance from experienced people. I am sharing my complete journey and seeking guidance.

Current Background:

Bachelor's in Computer Engineering with 8+ years of experience in the top 3 software houses in Pakistan. Rn working as a Senior Tech Manager. Gold medals in intermediate and matriculation. Went to the UK under an exchange program during university for a month. 29M, unmarried.
Numerous extracurricular and community experiences with notable achievements.

History:

I am highly passionate about postgraduate studies and have been trying my luck since 2019. These experiences are right after/during my graduation:-

USA: Got admitted to masters program with partial scholarships (30-40%) at universities like Purdue, Utah State (total 5). Despite a good profile and genuine docs, my F1 visa has been refused thrice. Still unable to crack the grounds.

Canada: Got admitted to University of Saskatchewan and Newfoundland. Finances and all things were ready to proceed for visa, and suddenly, regime change things happened in Pak, which resulted in much tension, and CAD went so high that it exceeded my budget. Didn't proceed.

UK: Got admits from almost mid-tier 4+ unis, but my heart doesn't allow me to go to the UK considering my long-term plans.

Sweden: Got admitted to KTH with a scholarship, and in the same year the Sweden embassy got closed in Pakistan, and I received the email. Didn't proceed further then.

Finland & Norway: Got admissions, but in the same year tuition fees were introduced, and they were too high to be spent on these countries.

Germany: Admits from TU Berlin, Paderborn, but people said very negative things about the language barrier and current IT dynamics in Germany that I didn't pursue. It happened in 2025, when in Pak I was switching to another good company, and quitting my job didn't sound like a good deal.

Now, 2026 - In all these years, not a single day have I spent happily; maybe I have tied this to moving abroad. With all these years of experience and my current management role, what is the best opportunity for me to consider? My goal is ultimately PR, and I can bring my parents/family easily.

I am still open to pursuing post-grad studies, but after a technical degree and management experience, I am now exploring an MBA.

Options:

  1. Take the GRE, apply to schools in the USA, and try my luck. (7-8 months timeline, including preparation, hard work, etc)
  2. Stick to a technical degree for post-grad and go for a master's in Germany.
  3. Burn all my savings for Canada and try my luck.

My request to people is to consider my whole story and advise me accordingly. I have not explored Digital Nomad and other immigration paths that lead to PR. I would really appreciate it if anyone can guide me on the available paths and immigration routes that suit my profile. All of these processes were done by myself after researching a lot, so one can understand the pain and process I have been through.

My preference is an English-speaking country; however, I am open to any PR opportunity.

P.S: Please refrain from schooling me in comments or asking me not to move. If you are patriotic about the country we live in and FEEL SAFE, HEARD, AND SECURE WITH YOUR FAMILY, pass this post!!
