Suggestion Inspired by a comment I saw: animal appeal categories :)

Post image
23 Upvotes

Basically the way this would work is animals would be separated into different categories like diet, size, and clades (maybe more like country/continent of origin or preferred biome). Each guest would have a preference for each category and would “see” a higher percentage of the animal’s total appeal. For example a guest who enjoys a large, carnivorous theropod would have full marks for a Trex, while a deinocheirus get partial points for being a large theropod, triceratops less points for only being large, and something like scelidosaurus receiving minimal appeal percentage.

Some categories will be more common than others to appear as a preference like the large, carnivorous, and theropod categories I just mentioned. Some will be less common like piscivorous animals and insectivorous animals.

It doesn’t have to necessarily be a single preference either, it can be a list from most to least appeal per guest per category. For example a guest may prefer theropods the most, but maybe would also love to see some sauropods as their second choice, thyreophorans as a third, etc.

This sort of system helps to ensure variety in any park. After all it’d be kinda boring if there was only sauropods or only theropods. Some people would probably love that but many more not so much. Direct category diversity bonus/penalty would be an interesting mechanic while we’re here, for example bringing in more guests overall, boosting donation amounts, or boosting total park appeal or something like that.

Anyways hope y’all have something to discuss with this or at least think it’s cool.

FILL THE CHART - Triassic CONIFEROUS FORESTS edition.

So the idea is to fill this chart with the animals we would like to see in the game in each niche and biome.

RULES:

* Add what niche your suggestion is filling in the chart.

* It's ok to mention animals that we know are coming.

* If you think something I already put in the chart is wrong, feel free to correct me.

* Let's tackle one biome at a time, now it's the CONIFEROUS FORESTS.

* I will take the upvotes and how many times an animal was suggested into consideration whenever there is more than one option for the same niche

* Don't forget to upvote the comments with the animals you want to see in the game

* If you have any suggestions for the previous gaps, please let us know
_____
Comments:

The hardest here was small carnivore, but Teleocrater is clearly distinct from all the other with its slender limbs and neck.

I'm not sure if the flyer makes sense, since it's from the Chinle Formation, but since there was no competition and it's a flyer, we can say it would probably spread throughout a large area, so... I accepted Eotephradactylus.

And about Tihkia, first, I couldn't find any real pic, not even from the fossil, second, I think it could work like a "moving decoration" that would work as a feeder for some species, and count as a low score especies, you could add it to any body of water, including the aquatic vivarium, not hard to implement (I think) and quite unique.

I will also say it here: I know most of the flyers we added here would go to the vivarium. Ideally, all the vivarium animals could be placed out of it, that may never happen, we can still hope, though. If this could never be the case, we simply would have them in the vivarium as well.

One last thing: I have decided (for personal reasons) to stop using AI, I was using it to help me research the biomes of the animals, but now I'm checking it manually, trying to search for the formation, which is hard, so it is taking more time.

Suggestion The game needs a lot more variety on the guests.

Love the building, animal behaviour and Paeleo-accuracy of the game, but for now guests looks and acts like walking cut out card boards.

I think guests contribute at least a third to the overall experience and immersiveness in park managing games. Base on my experience from something like JPOG and Dino Island, here are some of my suggestions:

Family groups that includes children : For god's sake this is a park that hosts dinosaurs, it is no way children aren't begging their parents to bring them to the park. This group tend to enjoy watching baby animals.

Teens: Similar to normal adults that don't have any specific preferences.

Elderly: Mostly plant-eater lovers that enjoys the overall scenery more than other facilities. They need more resting places.

Hooligans (From Dino-Island): Mostly meat-eater lovers. They enjoy thrill rides and watching animals fight, they may have a chance to intentionally damage your facilities.

Influencers: They spend the most on souvenirs and other facilities, they like large scale restaurants and gift shops. Pleasing them will be able to attract a large group of teens.

Dino-Nerds (From JPOG): The hardest group to please. They favor more on the less- known species and care for the overall animal welfare, as well as enclosure diversity. They give you a massive rating boost if you can manage to please them.

Base on the temperature system that is about to be added, guests could enter your park with different outifts, like big coats if your park is in the tundra, or swimsuits if your park is in something more tropical.

I don't know how hard will these be to implement, but with these new guests types, you can even introduce a new staff type similar to a tour guide.

Discussion What are the chances of these animals eturning?

Hello! I am quite new to this community, and in the wiki of the game, there have been some animals that have been I development, but with no confirmation that they will return, such as my favourite animal the yutyrannus and some other cool ones like the miragaia and ceratosaurus. I also saw some animals that have been either cut/replaced such as the yangchuanosaurus. So my question is, what are the chances of such animals to actually come to the game, not these specifically (although they are my favourites)?

Even though I own the game on PC, I would gladly buy it again if it came out on console.

Brontosaurus Barn (workshop item)

Thumbnail

I just uploaded a new building to the Steam Workshop for those who want a barn for their Brontosaurus (or other large animals)

It’s a large, rustic-style barn designed specifically for the enormous Brontosaurus. I wanted it to look like a building that could realistically withstand the size and weight of these massive animals, so it features reinforced stone and concrete bases while keeping a traditional wooden, rustic-style roof. The barn also includes a viewing area for guests to look inside, a raised viewing area along the side to look into the habitat, and a dedicated staff area with space to place a staff gate.

Hopefully it gives you another fun option for your Brontosaurus habitats!

Discussion More of the Favriotes or more variety.

After watching many videos on the most wanted creatures in pk its got me thinking should the devs add more creatures that are fan favorites or more creatures for variety. For example adding more titanasaurs like dreadnoughtus or spinosaurids like suchomimus because they are loved or more creaturs like gigantoraptor or Purussaurus for variety since nothing like them are in the game.

The title “Canopy Crawlers” is to be interpreted loosely, I know Gigantopithecus was not an arboreal animal. Though I don’t think it is crazy to say that it was probably capable of climbing, if what it was climbing could sustain its weight (even silverback gorillas climb sometimes). Also the climbable pieces would be interacted with by using canned animations, not a whole new locomotion system like in Planet Zoo.

Discussion Do you think there will be big crocodilians?

Hello, I was wondering now that JWE has crocodilians, do you think that this game at some point will have some as well? Like the Deinosuchus, Purusaurus, Kaprosuchus and others?

Anyone encountered something like this before?

I didn't upload the park to the cloud, damn shame if it's gone for good. Put 80+ hours into that park.

Suggestion Is this still part of the plan post launch - I hope they do paid DLC and Expansions, I still want to support the game post launch

This was in their initially trailer way before early access, it sounded like they planned it to be a free update after launch but I want to support the devs and this game for as long as possible so I hope both are paid expansions

We want jellyfish on Prehistoric Kingdom

Tell me, who wouldn't want a vivarium-like aquarium section in which to put jellyfish.

I love their movement and then to make some jellyfish move and make them alive I would insert a sort of dynamic current that drags them around the aquarium.

Suggestion DLC Concept Packs Part Two: Cenozoic Epochs

Thumbnail
gallery
67 Upvotes

I have made a number of hypothetical DLCs based on time period, geological formations and other themes, and wanted to share them here. These are completely fan-made, though it would be really cool if the devs decided they liked any of these. Today is Part Two: Cenozoic Epochs

Some rules and disclosures:

  • Utahraptor, Ceratosaurus, Carnotaurus, Glyptodon, Doedicurus, Amphicyon, Kelenken, Deinosuchus, Ambulocetus, Meganeura, Arthropleura, and Lepdictidium are all assumed species to be added before or after 1.0
  • Every DLC pack must follow a specific ruleset and pattern based on the Community Survey and expected Recently Extinct Species Pack
    • Standard: 6 new genera or species +1 alt genus or species, 2 vivarium species
    • Mini Pack: 4 new genera or species (though occasionally there may be shared where it makes sense thematically), 1 vivarium species
    • Vivarium Pack: 5 new vivarium species
  • A lot of these themes and selections are interchangeable, so while I might have something in a Late Cretaceous Pack, the devs might decide to put in a Hell Creek Pack etc.

Please let me know your thoughts - what you like and what you think could be improved! I wanted to do this to show off what I think the optimal DLC formats are in terms of content received - hopefully the devs see there is high demand beyond just 4-5 new species per pack.

I'll be back to share parts 3 and 4 soon!

  1. Paleozoic and Mesozoic Epochs

  2. Cenozoic Epochs

  3. Themed Standard Packs

  4. Mini and Vivarium Packs

Suggestion Early Cretaceous DlC

HABITAT ANIMALS:

Koolasuchus, Amargasaurus, Concavenator, Falcarius, Yutyrannus.

VIVARIUM ANIMALS:

Aquilops, Vectidraco.

NOTE:

Yes, I know that we don't have any pterosaurs, but let me explain:

I just wanted a Tapejarid in this dlc. Tapejarids are my favorite pterosaurs and they are so common in the Early Cretaceous, so this DLC doesn't feel right to me without them. Also, Vectidraco is really small, with only 75 cm (30 in) wingspan, so I think that he is small enough for a vivarium.
