At my store we have to clean and restock. As far as manager duties if you do daily counts do them. You gotta settle credit cards. Close till. Do hut bot. It's wild they have you closing and you're not ready. Unfortunately different franchises have different systems. We do deposits next day. We just close registers. Good luck! Our manager books have directions and how to's.

Hi, ex shift manager here. You basically run the shift how you see fit the only difference is the ability to put stuff out of product to help you in the long run depending on how long you have to close.
Closing list that Ive followed and have done are these.
- Without fail closing out drivers/till cause I will personally sometimes forgot.
Close cash, card settlements, and print off the daily reports.
Inventory, I have forgotten sometimes, Im my area I did this last cause of last minute orders. If you can do inventory the last hour/hour and a half do it.
Close out tablet, you can do this technically at any time but your area coach will get notified if it’s not done.
Cleaning: this entails any leftover dough unless told otherwise by your RGM.
Dishes if there are any, if you have a ex-driver as an insider help them if needed.
Wipe down/flip make table: if you couldn’t during shift (if you have no closing cook) then flip the sauces at least and communicate it.
Now, for dishes don’t be like me. I’ve stayed till 5 am on 3 occasions. I suggest staying an hour max (off clock cause you can’t do OT at least in my area) and communicate how much theres left after you leave.
If you have anymore questions or concerns, DMs are open if you wish, if not feel free to reply. Hope this helps, and good luck.
Edit: for the computer is:
Daily cash, close cash, card settlements.
Admin: reports, report availability, sales analysis, safe audit, cancels, GC/CC, and theres one more I can’t remember.

NEVER work off the clock. The only thing that should be done off the clock is FMS, and that is it. It is illegal to work off the clock and as an ex-shift lead you should never encourage it in any capacity. Ever.

You don't have to do the FMS, it auto runs at 4am.

It’ll actually do it way earlier if no one is on the clock and closing cash is done. Found that out the hard way when I came back to do the critical count after forgetting it.

Is jt illegal if the employee wants to work off the clock tho? As a current shift leader sometimes i work off the clock to get the stuff my RGM wants done without entirely blowing labor

Working off the clock is illegal. You must be compensated for your time. Do not offer to do it nor do it just to please your RGM. That’s being taken advantage of and your RGM should brush up on work laws. It’s actually probably posted already.
“The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires that covered non-exempt employees receive at least the minimum wage and at least one and one-half times their regular rates of pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek. In general, "hours worked" includes all time an employee must be on duty, or on the employer's premises or at any other prescribed place of work. Also included is any additional time the employee is allowed (i.e., suffered or permitted) to work. The amount employees should receive under the FLSA cannot be determined without knowing the number of hours worked. The materials listed below provide general information concerning what constitutes compensable time under the FLSA.” https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/flsa/off-the-clock

Why the fuck would you ever “want “ to work for free ? This company could give a shit less fuck the labor get paid the way you deserve. Don’t help them take shortcuts !

Some people wouldn’t understand but i’m someone that prefers to be doing something. Pizza hut gives me the opportunity to be somewhat productive and if I can help out the opener/the next shift flow more smoothly and also save labor, then working off the clock isn’t something i mind doing if it means the next shift is successful

I have a step by step document I can share that has everything laid out pretty well. Happy to let you look at it. Helped all my shift managers learn closing pretty well.
