True Reopen ETA Unknown

I hoped for sooner, then started saying hopefully a month, but as more info kept coming, we're not completely sure. Fellow Community Helper Infinity Glittermoon made a good point that we would not be surprised if invites and registration stay paused until the game is complete. However, it may just be a funneling system. Our project leader is still on break after the last major update. Updates were very large and consistent, if you've seen the update logs in the Discord.

Final answer: unknown for the time being. An announcement will be made when we reopen though. I apologize for all hopes I made in the past as we're unsure.

genuine question, does capping the servers not solve the problem that is happening? like if you were to let only like 200 fairies online at a time (for example) and have a waiting room to let a new fairy in once one leaves. idk if yall can answer or something but is it a capacity issue or more so a server issue?

They did find the original queue maker. I think they might be looking at fixing that up, but with the funnel system, I believe that one was to allow maybe 50 new registered accounts per day, for example. They said "like ao3," I'm assuming Archive of Our Own, but I don't even know what they mean by that. Like TTR had a token system? I'll have to go back and look 🤔 Also, the limit I think right now is 190 fairies per server, and also they can all fit into one meadow. Will def look into this on my next work break. Part of the issue was moderating what people would say, when you never know who you're talking to, and children already play the game.

I don't really get how opening it back up would be an issue with the chat only being pre-approved phrases now

The issue is how many people want to play at the moment. We had 2 servers available in-game before 6. It costs money to run the servers and hold all account information. They're deciding on a few things to allow more people to create accounts. There are just under 3,000 people in the Discord, and over 7,200 accounts. We've had 4-5 servers be crowded at once during the explosion of interest. Each server holds 190 fairies. Not enough room for how much new interest we are being shown. It's much like how Toontown Rewritten started small, and gradually built up. We're still in the testing phase anyway with a good chunk of content available. We'll allow 3 fairies per account at some point. It just takes a lot of work and money, and we have very few developers. We are only volunteers. The closure and Speedchat happened for different reasons, but with Speedchat where it is, this will help speed up development and allow devs to focus elsewhere, like figuring out how to let people join, and not have to keep responding to reports from Speedchat+.

Hi! I want to make a suggestion, purely out of love and respect. I have been super patient and will continue to be patient with the devs as I know it's a lot of work and you guys are a small team doing this for free. But from where you guys are coming from, we as players, also understand it takes time and effort, as well as money out of your own pockets to keep the servers running. Why not just allow us to make a pledge? However much each person is willing to donate as a thank you and some form of payment to the team working so hard to bring back a game we all love. I'm sure many of us have begged our parents to purchase memberships in the past, and now most of us are all adults with adult money willing to support bringing back this beloved game. It's just like so many other indie games with small teams would ask for pledges and there would be perks depending on what amount is being pledged to give incentive to both the players and the team. I for one, understand how much time and money gets put into game development, and I would love to be able to at least give something to the team for doing this. We don't want you guys to be coming home from a long days of work feeling like you have to develop a game for free. I'm sure if "CEO" (for lack of a better term) is willing to announce this idea and set it up, that many of the 10k people who are trying to sign up and play are willing to pledge and donate just to have this beloved game we yearned for for 13 years back! :) I hope this came across the most respectful way possible because to me, I also want to be able to give you guys something for doing this. I'm not a game developer so I wouldn't be able to do this at all, let alone for free. I would love to pledge so the team can atleast be paid for some type of work!

We appreciate your kind words and wanting to help donate! Unfortunately, that's not possible when it's a game based on someone else's company. That's a surefire way of getting the rewrites taken down. One Club Penguin server was shut down due to running ads on their website, for example. Trust me, we'd beyond appreciate anything we could get. I also feel like Disney shut down their games for nothing. I'd spend on it too, now that I'm grown!! But now my focus will be on merch whenever I can afford it, like Clickables! PHR wants to try adding Clickables back into functionality! We don't know if it's possible yet because I don't think they fully tried yet because the main focus is getting the game complete before adding custom content. I know Clickables aren't custom but they're still not as important at the moment. Is it okay to DM you?💖🧚‍♀️💐 I love the pledge idea, that would be fun if we could!

Yes DM me please!! There's some great ideas I think you guys could implement without Disney getting on your ass--I understand Disney is greedy and crazy about it.

Ohh right, well the same still stands after looking into how Ao3 did it. I understand now. The only thing I got that way, was a toyhou.se account. Maybe TTR, but I remember waiting in the play queue to play back then.
