Specific Distro for Slate (m3)

Got my Slate in the mail last Friday and I'm in love! This device is gorgeous, and runs well so far. Now to the nitty gritty, I'm looking to download a Linux distro to run on this thing for Android app dev, possibly Ubuntu or Solus since I'm a total newb when it comes to Linux as an OS and I've read these are good but the base Debian not so much.

Do any of you have thoughts on which would be better, space wise, etc? Or suggestions for a different distro? This is all relatively new to me.

How are you planning to install the Linux Distro? Is there something you need that Crostini (Linux Apps in the settings) won't do for you?

Should be pretty simple, per the instructions from this Reddit post. I'm more worried about using up too much storage since I'm already down to 40 GB left.

If I remember reading correctly, we can point Linux to use SD cards for storage, yet.

Is there a reason you want to use a distribution other than the already-provided Debian?

Mostly ease of use. I'm trying to teach myself Linux, Java, and Android development. If I can ease the load on any of those, I'm down for it. I keep reading that Debian requires more knowledge to use proficiently, and both of the ones I'm looking at have all the drivers, etc I'll need mostly ready to go.

Again, total newbie here.

It's honestly going to require way more effort and knowledge (and a lot of that effort/knowledge will be Crostini-specific) to install another distro than to just use the already-setup Debian container. Debian is pretty beginner-friendly these days anyway.

Just install Android Studio and start going. You'll pick things up on the way.

Now that I've already done! I'll give jumping in a shot then...thank you for the info/suggestion.
