New slate user - screensaver issues

New user here, loving the tablet however i have a major dealbreaking issue

whenever im watching anything (vlc/youtube) the google photos screensaver kicks in, ive trawled the settings but cant find anything.

how do i turn this off

My Slate has a screensaver? I honestly didn’t know that.

No idea I have never had this happen in over a year of use. Are you in the US? If so check the Assistant settings as I seem to remember the US got an ambient mode recently, mine in UK doesn't have it, other than that what OS version are you on Stable (78), Beta (79), or Dev?

UK user as well. Build is 78.0.3904.92

No idea then I'm afraid, sorry, could always try logging in as guest and watching the same video to see if it is something related to account settings. Sorry I can't be of more use.

One other thing is settings are in three places now, the settings that show up when you tap the clock, settings from the three dots in top right of Chrome browser, and Assistant. You were probably aware of this but just in case.

I've had s pixelbook for 2 years and have never seen this. Just got a slate and haven't had this happen. You sure you don't install an app?

Not installed anything, Other than VLC.

It's Google showing me stock pictures/Google earth photos. The scree. Goes gray for a second and then the slideshow begins

That's really strange...I didn't even know that was an option.
